I often get compliments about my skin and the healthy glow I have. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so it is my skin that is naturally healthy looking and glowing. Like everyone, I get breakouts and use cover-up to manage those, but typically on any regular day I will just wear mascara and some face powder.
Beauty comes from the inside. The best way to get healthy and glowing skin is to take care of your body. Here are some tips (that work for me) to help you get glowing skin for back to school (which is just around the corner). Try these tips and say hello to beautiful glowing radiant skin!!
Get Enough Sleep
Getting about eight hours of sleep every night is essential for avoiding dark circles under the eyes. Lack of sleep can also lead to dull skin. Sleeping helps the skin to regenerate and repair itself, so it is incredibly important. During the school year with part time jobs, homework and other activities, it is typical for sleep to be neglected. Don’t let that happen!
When your body is deprived of water, your skin will become dry. Dry skin is flaky and that will make your skin look dull. I have read that you should aim for drinking eight glasses of water daily. Drinking an adequate amount of water will help to clear up imperfections and it will plump your skin to create a natural glow.
Tired of drinking water? Try adding berries and fruit to your water to naturally flavour it. It also looks pretty, too! Don’t forget to bring water to class, too.
Physical activity is essential to achieving flawless and glowing skin. Physical activity increases blood and oxygen flow to the skin cells and will cleanse the skin from the inside. Exercise also helps to reduce stress (which is something that can cause break-outs). To prevent acne and dull skin, you need to add at least a half hour of exercise to your day.
Not all exercise has to be at the gym. Head outside and get some fresh air when the weather is cooperating. Deep breathing, exercise and relaxing in the fresh air will help you and your skin, especially during stressful exam times during the school year.
As soon as I get home from work or school, I wash my makeup off of my face. Even though I don’t wear a lot of makeup, it is a good habit to get into. Makeup can clog pores and lead to breakouts and who needs that!
Washing your face at least once a day is important to get rid of the dirt that accumulates throughout the day.
Keeping your skin looking fresh and glowing throughout the day can be challenging. I use Clean & Clear® Oil Absorbing Sheets to remove excess oil without smudging my makeup. I carry the oil absorbing sheets in my bag and I use them to blot away any shine that pops up throughout the school day.
Make sure you stock up on these Clean & Clear® and Neutrogena® products at your local Target store when you are doing your back to school shopping. 🙂 Doesn’t everyone love back to school shopping?!? Another important aspect to keeping your skin naturally gorgeous is exfoliating. Removing the dead, and dry outer layer of skin will help keep it brilliant by removing the layers of dead skin cells and dirt that are blocking your pores and your skin’s natural glow.
Another benefit of exfoliating is that it will also help your makeup apply smoothly. Win-win!
Eat your way to glowing skin! You need to eat healthy to have healthy skin. A diet containing a lot of fruits, vegetables and lean protein works well for me.
Plan your meals so that during the busy school year, you have no excuse for not eating right. A healthy diet will help you by fighting hunger, keeping your mood stable and decreasing your stress levels. Eating right can help you get your best skin ever.
Be Sun Smart
The best advice I can give is to apply SPF like it is your job! To keep your complexion looking its best, you need to apply sunscreen even if you are not going to the beach. Your skin will thank you now and later!
I hope these tips will help you find your healthy glow in time for back to school…which is coming up way too quick! Thanks for all your blog love and support. It means so much to me! ?
