When life is going 100 km/hour balance is tough to achieve. Like many of you I try really hard to make healthy choices and exercise on a regular basis. Sometimes with work, school, volunteering, social activities and laundry…it can be easy to slip up. However, I try not to beat myself up too much…because for one I am trying and that is important. Secondly, balance is important to me, meaning that I like to make sure I make time for Netflix and a run and I like to make sure I allow myself some indulgences like poutine.  🙂

Fitting in a quick run or workout in the living room may seem difficult some days, but I try to make it happen. The outdoors and fresh air helps me focus on all my other tasks. I am a master at making mental lists while I run. Often it ends up I fit in my exercise very early in the morning or late in the day and I need to be flexible because each day my schedule is so different.

Most of us get don’t get enough greens in our diets, so making a conscious effort to supercharge my morning smoothie (with one scoop of greens+) is a great way to make sure that happens. Mango Berry Spinach Smoothie

Ingredients
  1. 1 Cup strawberries, frozen
  2. 1/2 Cup mixed berries, frozen
  3. 1/2 mango, cubed
  4. 1 banana
  5. 1/2 cup spinach
  6. 1 scoop greens+ from Genuine Health
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth.

  • Oh yes, greens make a big difference! I have been avoiding greens in my smoothies as I want my smootheis to have that sweet taste and always thought the adding spinach woul make them too vegetable-ish in taste. But this morning I did add some spinach and it was so delicious!

    I love early workout too, I usually get up at 5 a.m. and start with that. It gives me so much energy for the whole day, and the stretching finish relaxes me and helps concentrate. But I think it’s important to let go sometimes, so I skip my routine once or twice a week and eat up my favorite chocolate 🙂

  • That’s really nice. It’s always important to have a balance especially when you have a lot going on at work or at school. A little down time can definitely help. That smoothie sounds delightful!

  • I’ve always been told greens also help the digestion of food so ideally include greens as part of every meal. I also find first thing in the morning is best for exercise and its kickstarts your day to being a productive and fulfilling one most of the time!
