A trip to Whistler is always fun. It doesn’t matter what time of the year you go because there is always so much to do, see and eat! Today’s blog post is about a recent road trip to Whistler that I took with Ford Canada to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
I always love any chance to get away, so when I was asked to go on a road trip to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday (which is coming up on July 1st) I could not say no. 🙂
We were equipped with a new Ford Escape for the week. It is a great vehicle to take on a road trip. I drove it when I was in Montreal at a Ford event and it was my favourite out of all the vehicles I drove.
Although it was April, it was still pretty chilly in Whistler…at least for me! The weather ended up being beautiful while we were there even though the drive from Vancouver was very rainy.
**This sweatshirt is insanely soft, made in the USA and a portion of the proceeds go to MS research.
When we arrived at Whistler, we went ziplining with Ziptrek EcoTours. On the tour that we went on there were 5 ziplines. The first one we got to do side-by-side and then all the others were single ziplines. Some were a lot faster than others. I was a little hesitant, even though I had been ziplining before, because I am not super fond of heights.
We drove the Ford Escape, which I loved…and I wished that I could have brought it home with me. I love that it has a full sun roof (to see the beautiful blue sky), heated seats, very useful back-up camera and that my phone connects so easily.
I also love that it has a lot of storage room in the back. It would be the perfect vehicle to get me out and about on my adventures and day to day activities.
We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for the night which is an amazing hotel. After zipling we went to the pool at the Fairmont, which is very nice! I could have stayed there all night.
That evening we went to the Whistler Brewing Company for dinner. I highly recommend that you try the Grapefruit Ale. It is so good!

Doors Off Heli Ride
On our second day in Whistler, we went on a doors off heli ride with Blackcomb Helicopters. A heli ride is a great way to see Whistler from a different perspective. Our ride was a half hour and we flew over the village area and around the mountains. It was a bit cold with the doors off, but definitely very exciting. Check out the video above!
The birds eye views from the sky were fabulous and I would definitely recommend it.
Thanks to Joel Schat for the photos and coming with me! 🙂
Even though the drive from Vancouver to Whistler is only a few hours, there are a lot of stops that you can make along the way. This is the Tantulus Lookout which is located right on the Sea to Sky Highway.
I hope you had a great week! I am busy working on getting blog content together for this week and next. I am heading out of town again on Friday. 🙂
