I went on a quick (but fun) trip to New York City in early June. This was my second trip to NYC. My last trip was also a quick one, so I knew I had some iconic spots to visit and I had to make the most of my time there!
It was a work trip for meetings and to get blog/social media content so the intent was to get a lot of photos. The weather totally cooperated, which was great considering the forecast wasn’t looking too promising a few days out.
Last trip I got a few photos in Central Park, but I made sure that I made it back again this trip. I am feeling very much like Snow White in this photo…all wee need are the little animals and birds to fly into the shot.
We hit the subway and of course we had to take some pictures there, too. Lauren is a subway pro…me not so much. I did however take it several times by myself this trip and I didn’t get lost. Yeah me!
Last trip I walked by the Flatiron building many times but didn’t get any photos there. I suggest going early in the morning if you don’t want people in your pictures. Lauren and I went a bit later in the afternoon and it was quiet busy.
Trying new food is one of my favourite things to do on a trip. We made our way to Taiyaki NYC for some hella good soft serve ice cream! Did I mention it comes in a fish shaped cone!?! I got the matcha flavour and it was to die for!!! I see that they have a unicorn one now. I will have to get that next trip. 🙂

Last stop with Lauren was at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. From there I took the subway back to my hotel (without getting lost). If you want great bridge photos with not many other people, you need to go early in the morning. See below…
Soho is one of my favourite areas of NYC. It is so pretty with the old buildings and cobblestone streets. It is one of those places that you can just walk around and fall in love with the architecture and all the cute shops.
We checked out Georgetown Cupcakes while we were in Soho. I have wanted to go there for so long. I am a huge cupcake fan. I actually used to work at Cupcakes (from the Food Network show). 🙂 I have iced thousands of cupcakes lol.
I met Zach early in the morning on the Brooklyn Bridge and then we made our way to Dumbo to get more photos. Last trip I went to Dumbo, too…it’s a great place to walk around and explore.
I love this location in Dumbo. You get the perfectly framed image of the Manhattan Bridge. It is often really busy though!
I met my friend Oby Grace in Dumbo for breakfast and we decided we needed a rainbow bagel from The Bagel Store. The confetti cream cheese is to die for. I am sure you have seen photos of these bagels before. So delish and too cute!
No trip to New York is complete without a trip to Times Square. I met Jay there for sunset and the lights were beautiful but it was crazy busy. However, I have been there during the day and it is crazy busy too. Avoid this area if you don’t like crowds.
I stayed at the Dream Midtown Hotel during this visit. This was a last minute trip, so I booked it using Hotel Tonight. I totally love that app for finding last minute hotel deals. I literally booked this hotel the morning before I got on my plane to leave. How cute is this room???? It was a great location, too…close to Central Park and Times Square.
Last trip I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge mid day and it was so busy. This trip, since I wanted to get photos without a crowd, I went really early in the morning. Luckily it was a beautiful blue sky day, too.
My last stop before making my way to the airport for my evening flight home was for an amazing sunset doors off heli ride with FlyNYON. It was so incredible to see NYC from above and the sunset that evening was epic. It is definitely an experience that I won’t forget.
