I have a few habits which result in me “stressing out” far too often. I take on too much, I am a perfectionist and I don’t enjoy having a lot on my to-do list. As as result, I find that I am always “on” and need to take some actions to keep me balanced.  In today’s blog post I am going to share Bella’s seven ways to chill out after a stressful week.

1 – Get Moving!

When you are stressed, sometimes exercise is the last thing on your mind. I find that exercise, especially running, totally really relaxes me. I don’t know if it is the rhythm, the time to think or the fresh air…but it totally works at de-stressing me. The bonus is that it also energizes me, allowing me to get more done in a day.

If you are too tired for that much activity, stretching is also very helpful for relieving stress, too.  🙂

2 – You are my Cup of Tea!

Tea is my comfort drink. It is the one thing that I can drink day after day and never get tired of it. In the summer months I go for a iced cold brew tea with lemon and in the cooler months, a nice cup of Earl Grey with milk makes me pretty happy.  Sitting down with a cup of tea (whether cold or warm), really relaxes me.

There are so many great teas that taste so good and even have benefits to them! What is your favourite tea?

I use essential oils all the time. My favourite essential oils are citrus based because I find that they not only calm me, but make me feel energized and happy.  A peppermint and eucalyptus oil mix is amazing at relieving headaches and de-stressing.  In the evening I diffuse oils in my bedroom and they not only make my room smell great, but they also help me sleep better.

Sometimes the day just calls for ice cream. My favorite flavour is Häagen-Dazs® Butter Pecan and I just adore the sweet, nutty flavour it has.  ❤  Ice cream is an indulgent treat that you can enjoy and forget about what is causing you stress. Make sure you enjoy responsibly and don’t over indulge!

It is a good idea to keep a pint (or three) on hand at all times.   I know it is not proper, but I claim the pint as my own by eating straight out of it. I can’t be the only one that does this! 5 – Escape with a Movie!

There is no better way to escape than to watch a movie!  Whether it is a comedy, drama or thriller, movies have a way to making you forget what is stressing you out. I hands-down prefer to watch a movie at home instead of in the theater. I enjoy wearing my comfy clothes, curling up in my favourite blanket and decompressing.

This may sound absolutely crazy, but planning and organizing really relaxes me and helps me to chill out. One of my favourite activities is to spend time on Pinterest browsing, pinning and organizing my boards.  Who needs therapy when you can organize instead?  🙂

Lastly, sometimes you need to pamper yourself a bit. You will find that you really need to take care of yourself first, especially when you have had a stressful and hectic week. Giving myself a manicure or pedicure is a great way for me to focus on me. I find that when I am stressed I will pick at my cuticles, but if I have a fresh manicure I don’t do it…so I am painting my nails all the time to save my cuticles!
