‘Tis the season for giving! Although bringing unexpected joy to friends and family can be done year-round, the focus always tends to be around the holiday season. Giving back to others, whether through traditional or random acts of kindness is always a good thing!
Cadbury Dairy Milk has asked to share how I #FreeTheJoy. You may have seen the Surprise and Delight Gift Box that I recently received and shared on my Insta-Story. Well, I am going to put that gift box to good use! Here are 5 ways I plan to bring unexpected joy to others this holiday season:
As someone that has worked as a server at a restaurant, I know how much tips mean. I will make someone’s day the next time I eat out by leaving an extra-large tip and a treat.
Give A Little and Get a Lot
I volunteer each Monday at a senior’s care facility. I go there each week to bake with the residents. Afterwards I will play games, give manicures, sing, read or really do anything they want. I have heard some crazy stories for the residents there and learned things really haven’t changed that much over the years. I always leave there feeling “full” of the good feels and that keeps me going back. I give a little each week and truly get a lot back.
This holiday season I want to give a little to the staff that work there. They are all amazing people that care deeply for the welfare of the residents. I will take them some baking to enjoy. 🙂
Lend a Hand
We have had a lot of snow lately and it is hard to keep up with the shoveling. I know my dad (and his sore back) would appreciate some help dealing with the snowfall. Beau wants to help, too. 🙂
I am very fortunate to have so much and each year my family donates to the food bank and purchases gifts for a family. I know this is something that I will continue through my lifetime.
I have been on the receiving end of a pay-it-forward in the drive through many times and I usually reciprocate right away. I will pay for another order and leave a sweet gift for them.
Giving back is easy and it doesn’t have to be something big. Sometimes the smallest gesture can make a difference in someone’s day. What is your favourite way to give unexpected joy?
Last weekend I joined Cadbury at Enchant Christmas Light Maze and Market in Vancouver where they had a huge life-size snowglobe. It was fun to see everyone enjoying the treats that Cadbury was handing out.
Happy Holidays, friends! I hope that 2017 bring you much joy and happiness.
