In September Joel and I went on a trip to Norway for about 10 days. Today’s post is the second in a series of posts about our trip and our stay at the Hamn i Senja resort which is located on the island of Senja in northern Norway.
The second part of our Norway trip we spent two nights in Senja and we stayed at the Hamn i Senja resort. We drove about 6 hours north Hamnøy to get to Senja. It was a beautiful drive!
The Hamn i Senja is a resort right on the water. There are cottages, a conference facility and a lighthouse. This area is very sparsely populated so to find this beautiful resort there was fantastic. Definitely a great vacation destination especially if you live in Europe.
Since it is right on the water you can enjoy kayaking and boating in the summertime. We were there mid September and we spent the whole morning out on the water. It was really, really cold though. It is the Arctic, so I guess that is about right lol. When we got back to our cabin we drank lots of tea to warm up!
The cabin suites were perfect size and looked right out onto the water. Ours had a deck, too. Our suite had a kitchen and a very comfy bed. In Scandinavia the beds are made with two duvets which I found interesting. Each person gets their own. No sharing needed lol.
Once again we were able to catch the Aurora Borealis. I was so lucky to see it so much on this trip. I will never forget these nights. You can check out Soft Serve News to track where the Aurora will be. Thanks to Joel for this tip.
My friend Joel Schat came along with me and helped to document the trip. His photos and video are always amazing and I am so lucky to have a friend that is so crazy talented. Follow him on Instagram and YouTube. ?

Since the Aurora is soooo amazing I will also share this video that Joel posted on his Instagram. Check out the view count! ? Hit PLAY TO WATCH!
I was saving the best for last because this video Joel posted on his Instagram shows the Aurora Borealis and bioluminescence in the water. It truly was a night I will never forget. So crazy to see this in person!!!! ? Hit PLAY TO WATCH!
If you are in Senja you must take the hike to Mt. Segla. It is a short, steep hike and it takes about an hour. It is so beautiful!!
Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
