This sweet red fruit pairs with any white wine you like to make this slushie. I like to make a Pinot Grigio slushie because that wine has a naturally acidic bite to it. It contrasts so nicely with the fresh watermelon.

Add in the ice and the result is a wonderful cocktail made with fresh watermelon that is certain to quench your thirst. An alcoholic slushie drink recipe is perfect for long summer evenings when the weather is good and you have friends over.

Which Type of Wine to Use

I find Pinot Grigio perfect for making this watermelon white wine slushie. That isn’t to say it’s your only option though. If you are more partial to Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, by all means use that. See what you have in the pantry and choose accordingly!

I probably wouldn’t use a sweet white wine to make this frozen watermelon cocktail though. That would mean sweet watermelon with sweet wine and the whole thing would probably be too sweet! But feel free to experiment with different kinds.

How to Make a Watermelon White Wine Slushie

All you need to do is add the watermelon, white wine and ice to your blender and press the button. That’s how easy this recipe using watermelon and wine is. You can then tip the mixture into serving glasses or a pitcher, as you choose.

Throw in some honey, agave syrup, sugar or sweetener if you find the watermelon not sweet enough or if you just prefer a sweeter cocktail. Frozen watermelon is another option and saves you having to cut up and de-seed a fresh one.

Another option is the seedless watermelons. While those would work in a cocktail made with fresh watermelon, they don’t taste the same as the seed-in kind!

How to Garnish an Alcoholic Slushie Drink Recipe

It’s totally your choice how you want to decorate your Pinot Grigio slushie. Some greenery, such as fresh sprigs of basil or mint, would look good. Lime wedges are always a nice touch on a cocktail made with fresh watermelon. This frozen watermelon cocktail is certainly no exception.

You can also get creative with other alcoholic slushie drink recipe garnishes. Add some cocktail umbrellas if you’re in a fun mood or consider a watermelon wedge. A strawberry on the rim of the glass would also be cute.

What to Serve with a Pinot Grigio Slushie

This watermelon white wine slushie is wonderfully quick and easy to throw together. That means you can focus your time and energy on making a few tempting tapas to pair alongside.

Since you are probably reading this (and making the frozen watermelon cocktail) in the summer, or at least when it’s warm, consider summer snacks. I love the freshness of seafood, especially paired with watermelon wine slushies. For some reason the flavors all seem to tie in. How about some shrimp and cherry tomato skewers? I’m sure ceviche would be amazing too, served with little melba crackers.

To simplify things even further, you will never go wrong with some little serving bowls of nuts and chips. Especially for a balmy summer evening after dinner.

Optional Add-Ins

It’s fair to say this watermelon wine slushie is complete, because it has everything. It has the sweetness of watermelon, the crisp bite of white wine and lashings of ice. As long as you have those ingredients plus a blender worth its salt, you’re good to go.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t tweak the recipe to your liking! How about swapping the watermelon for mango or peach? You could also swap half the watermelon for another kind of fruit or berry. Strawberry would be amazing here, or you could try apricot.

Summertime Watermelon White Wine Slushie

Hello to refreshment with this watermelon white wine slushie. It’s a frozen watermelon cocktail recipe using watermelon and wine. This Pinot Grigio slushie is an all time summer favourite alcoholic slushie drink recipe.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 7 Cups Watermelon
  • 750 ml white wine, 1 bottle like a Pinot Grigio
  • 2 Cups Ice

Garnishes (Optional)

  • 6 Leaf mint
  • 6 Leaf basil
  • 6 Wedges Lime

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a high powered blender and pulse until everything is smooth
  • Pour into glasses or a pitcher and serve immediately.

Notes

  • I love Pinot Grigio with this recipe because it’s a more acidic white wine which balances the sweetness of the watermelon.
  • If your watermelon is not super sweet, or if you like sweeter drinks you can also add 3 Tbsp honey or agave syrup.
  • You can also use frozen watermelon and skip the iec. However I like the texture and flavor better with the fresh watermelon + ice combo.

To save time, you can use frozen fruit instead of fresh fruit. The quality won’t be exactly the same in the finished Pinot Grigio slushie but I’m sure it would still impress! This watermelon white wine slushie is absolutely perfect for the summer. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tart and it’s icy cold enough to be perfectly refreshing.
