Instructions

  • Print the pattern PDF onto regular paper.
  • Pin the pattern pieces onto felt and cut them out. Cut one of each of pattern pieces #1 (cup) and #3 (pocket) from red glitter felt, one of pattern piece #1 (cup) from red felt, one of pattern piece #2 (lid) from white felt, and one of pattern piece #4 (sleeve) from brown felt.
  • Use three strands of white embroidery floss to stitch along the bottom edge of the lid and attach it to the cup.
  • Pin the second cup piece (#1, cut from regular red felt) onto the back of the cup. Starting on one side of the lid, use three strands of white embroidery floss to blanket stitch around the lid through all three layers of felt, stopping once you reach the other side.
  • Pin the pocket onto the front of the cup. Starting at the top of the cup, where you just finished stitching, use three strands of red embroidery floss to blanket stitch around the edge of the cup until you reach the lid on the other side.
  • Using 6 strands of dark brown embroidery floss, embroider a mouth onto the sleeve. Attach eyes to the sleeve using hot glue. If you are using half-pearls, glue them directly onto the sleeve. If you are using craft safety eyes, use a pair of wire cutters to clip the stems off the back of the safety eyes, then glue them onto the sleeve.
  • Pin the sleeve onto the front of the cup, aligning the top of the sleeve with the top edge of the pocket. Using three strands of brown embroidery thread, blanket stitch along both sides of the sleeve to attach it to the cup
  • Attach a bow to the front of the sleeve using hot glue.
  • Insert a gift card into the gift card pocket. And you're done!

Notes

Types of felt: Use any type of felt you have available to create this - synthetic craft felt, a wool-blend or wool felt would work.
Blanket stitch: This stitch works or you can use any stitch you're comfortable with, perhaps running stitch or whip stitch.
Make a few: Even if you can only think of one person to gift this to, it's worth making several so you have some handy for future gifts. You never know when you'll want to gift someone a Starbucks gift card and these are always cute regardless of season or occasion!
