Garlic Green Beans

This recipe for garlic green beans is a keeper. It's such an easy dish to make and the garlicky, buttery green beans are delicious as well as nutritious.

Ingredients

  • Pounds green beans fresh, ends trimmed
  • 3 Tablespoons water
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 3 Cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • ½ Teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ Teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked

Instructions

  • Add the green beans and water to a large skillet. Cover with a lid and cook over a medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and cook the beans until the water has evaporated.
  • Add butter, garlic, salt, and pepper. Toss together for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the butter has melted and the garlic is fragrant.
  • Pour the garlic green beans into a serving bowl or platter and serve immediately.

Notes

Precut shortcut: Buy trimmed green beans (the ready to cook prepackaged ones) to save time trimming them yourself.
Don't overcook them: It's up to you whether to enjoy this delicious recipe with crisp-tender or fully tender green beans. Don't overcook them though, otherwise they'll end up mushy. Green beans turn bright green when they're al dente.
Fresh is best: Use fresh green beans and fresh garlic for the tastiest garlic green beans recipe results.
