Hot Dog and Potato Foil Packs

Eating around the campfire is one of life's great pleasures, but you can also use a grill or the oven. Hot dog and potato foil packs are just always so good!

Ingredients

  • Pounds red potatoes not peeled and cut into quarters
  • 1 Cup onion sliced, sweet onion or red onion
  • ¼ Cup salted butter melted
  • 1 Teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 Teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hot dogs or sausages
  • ½ Cup Colby Jack cheese shredded, or another kind
  • 1 Cup BBQ sauce sweet or spicy

Instructions

  • Preheat the BBQ to medium heat, 350 to 375 degrees F.
  • Cut 4 pieces of aluminum foil, 12 inches wide. Set aside.
  • In a large Ziploc bag, add the potatoes and onion slices.
  • Pour the melted butter over the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder, dried parsley, salt and pepper. Close the bag and shake it to coat all the potato pieces.
  • Place ¼ of the potato mixture on a pre-cut aluminum foil. Add one hot dog sausage.
  • Pour ¼ cup of BBQ sauce.
  • Sprinkle some of the shredded Colby Jack.
  • Close the foil pack and repeat for the 3 other ones.
  • Place the foil packets on the preheated grill.
  • Cook for 15 to 18 minutes or until the potatoes are nice and soft, then serve.
