Instructions

  • Put the chopped up candy on a plate or small sheet pan and place in the freezer.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9 x 13-inch sheet pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together brownie mix, coconut oil, eggs, and cold water.
  • Spread the batter into the greased pan. Top with the dark chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out almost clean.
  • Pull the candy pieces out of the freezer and immediately arrange them on top of the brownies right out of the oven when the dark chocolate is melted on top.
  • Allow the brownies to cool before serving.

Notes

Portion sizes: The brownie servings will vary depending on the size of the brownies you cut.
Use good quality chocolate: Find good quality dark chocolate for the melted top layer. This will add to the brownies' final flavor and act as a glue to hold the candy pieces on top.
Cool before slicing: This will keep the brownies and candy pieces together.
Pre-freeze candy: Freezing the candy pieces beforehand will keep them nice and cold and prevent them from melting on the hot brownies.
