Lobster Roll Recipe - East Coast Style

Lobster tail meat pairs with tasty ingredients like garlic, shallot, hot pepper, dill, lemon, and more.. Serve the lobster filling in a long buttery bun or hot dog split-top bun for a gourmet lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 16 Ounces lobster tails 4 tails at 4 Ounces each
  • ½ Cup salted butter at room temperature
  • ½ shallot
  • 3 Cloves garlic
  • 1 red chili pepper de-seeded
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 Pinch black pepper
  • 4 pretzel buns or similar
  • 1 Tablespoon chives chopped
  • ¼ Cup pickles diced
  • Cup mayonnaise
  • ½ Tablespoon lemon zest
  • chives chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • First, prepare the butter. Combine butter, garlic, shallot, pepper, half the dill, and lemon juice in a food processor and purée. Divide the mixture in half.
  • Preheat the broiler to high.
  • Cut lobster tails in half. Add a heaping spoonful of the butter atop each. Place cut side up on a foil lined baking sheet.
  • Place under the broiler for 3 minutes. Flip the lobster over so the lobster meat is in the melted butter and cook for 3 more minutes.
  • Remove and let cool while toasting the buns.
  • Next, brush the buns with the other half of the herb butter. Place onto a baking sheet under the broiler for 1 minute.
  • Remove the meat from the shell and chop into ½-inch chunks. Add to a mixing bowl with the mayo, pickles, chives, lemon zest, and remaining dill. Pour in the butter from the pan and mix thoroughly.
  • Add to the buns.
  • Top with fresh chopped chives and serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t overcook the lobster: Keep a close eye while broiling to ensure the lobster remains tender.
Use fresh herbs and lemon: Fresh ingredients will enhance the overall flavor of the dish.
Serve immediately: For the best texture and taste, serve the lobster rolls as soon as they’re assembled.
