Mummy Halloween Hot Dogs

These mummy hot dogs are perfect for Halloween fun. Each one is wrapped in crescent dough to look like a spooky little snack. They’re simple, funny and always get attention.

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs or wieners
  • 8 Ounces crescent dough refrigerated, I used Pillsbury
  • 16 candy eyes
  • 1 Tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Remove all moisture from the hot dogs with paper towels. Set these aside.
  • Roll out the crescent dough and pinch together perforated seams. Use a pizza cutter or knife to slice the dough into ¼ inch strips. The length of the strips is not important.
  • Take the strips of dough and wrap them around the wieners. Try to criss-cross a little, but do not overlap too many layers or they will not bake properly. Make sure you leave a little space uncovered to add the eyes later.
  • Space the mummies out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they're not too crowded. Bake them for 8 to 10 minutes until golden.
  • Use a small amount of mustard (or ketchup) to attach the candy eyes.

Notes

Seal the seams: Pinch the crescent dough well so it doesn’t separate during baking.
Don’t wrap too tightly: Let the dough expand a bit so the hot dogs bake evenly.
Add eyes after baking: The candy eyes will melt if added too soon.
Serve warm: These taste best right out of the oven.
