Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, add the candy melts and microwave at 50% power for 1 minute. Stir and then continue melting at 50% power in 30 second increments until smooth, stirring between each increment.
  • Push the cookie into the melted candy, completely covering the face, and let any excess drip off.
  • Allow to set on a cooling rack for 5 minutes.
  • Press two candy eyeballs just above the halfway point of the cookie and immediately press two of the orange sprinkles underneath to form a beak. Let the cookies set for about 15 minutes.
  • Once set, use the royal icing to outline a broken egg shell at the top and bottom of each cookie. Flood the outline fully with the royal icing and shake a little to even it out. Let the icing dry before serving.

Notes

Get organized: It's easy to make Nutter Butter chicks cookies if you're organized, so lay out all your ingredients before you start making them, counting out two candy eyes for each one, sprinkles, and so on.
Catch the drips: Make them on a wax paper or parchment-lined baking sheet to catch any drips.
Let everything set: Wait until the melted candy coating hardens before adding the candies, and make sure you allow ample time for the royal icing to harden before serving.
