Ingredients

  • 1 Pound shell pasta medium size, cooked, drained, and cooled
  • 8 Ounces crab meat imitation or lump crab
  • 8 Ounces shrimp cooked, tails removed
  • 1 Cup peas thawed
  • 1 Cup celery minced
  • ½ Cup mayonnaise
  • ½ Cup sour cream
  • 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • ½ Teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the pasta, crab meat, salad shrimp, peas and celery. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, white vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper.
  • Pour over the pasta, seafood and veggies and toss until the dressing is well distributed.
  • Chill for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Don't overcook the pasta: Be sure to cook elbow macaroni to “al dente” doneness or your otherwise perfect pasta salad will be mushy.
Drain and dry the shrimp thoroughly: Drain the frozen shrimp well, maybe even pat dry. They tend to retain a lot of water.
Don't try to mix all the ingredients together at once: Mixing the dressing separately is necessary for the success of this recipe. Take the extra minute and whisk separately for a super smooth dressing.
Customize ratios: You can adjust the amount of seafood and veggies as desired. This recipe is very forgiving.
