Smoked Asparagus

Try this flavorful smoked asparagus on a Traeger grill or pellet smoker and you're sure to be impressed. The following smoked vegetable recipe is simple to make and boasts a buttery, lemon flavor.

  • Preheat the smoker lid closed for 15 minutes at 200 degrees F.
  • Snap the pale ends off of the asparagus and discard.
  • Toss asparagus with olive oil, salt, and lemon pepper in a bowl.
  • Combine lemon juice, butter and garlic paste in a small saucepan.
  • Add to a grill pan and place the asparagus and saucepan into the smoker for 1 hour.
  • After 30 minutes, brush asparagus with smoked butter from the saucepan.
  • Remove from the smoker and plate. Pour remaining butter over asparagus.

Notes

Preheat the smoker: Before you start this pellet grill asparagus, make sure to preheat your smoker with the lid closed for 15 minutes at 200 degrees F. This guarantees that your asparagus will cook evenly and absorb all the smoky flavor.
Trim the asparagus: Don't forget to trim the pale end off of the asparagus and discard. This part is usually tough and fibrous, and removing it will make your side dish more enjoyable to eat.
Smoke with butter: Combine lemon juice, butter and garlic paste in a small saucepan and place it in the smoker with the asparagus. Halfway through, brush the asparagus with this smoked butter. This will give your asparagus a rich, smoky, and buttery flavor.
