Ingredients

For the Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

To Make the Shaken Espresso

  • 1 Shot espresso
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar simple syrup
  • ½ Cup oatmilk
  • 2 Cups ice

Instructions

  • Prepare the brown sugar syrup. In a small pot over medium heat combine the water, brown sugar, vanilla, and the cinnamon stick.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved and thickened. Remove from heat and transfer to a mason jar. You can refrigerate it for up to a week.
  • Once you are ready to prepare the espresso drink, fill a shaker with a cup of ice. Add the espresso and the brown sugar simple syrup and vigorously shake.
  • Fill a glass with the remaining 1 cup ice and pour the iced coffee over it. Top with the milk and serve.

Notes

Use strong espresso: A bold brew balances the sweetness.
Shake well: Vigorous shaking creates a smooth, foamy texture.
Chill the syrup: Let it cool before using to prevent melting the ice.
Double the syrup: Make extra and keep it in the fridge for later drinks.
