  • Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and melt the butter in the pan. If you only have a small nonstick skillet, melt ½ tablespoon per slice of bread.
  • Whisk the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt into a shallow dish.
  • Place the bread slices into the mixture, allowing them to soak on each side for at least 30 seconds.
  • Cook bread on each side for at least 3 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Plate and top with banana slices, pecans, maple syrup, or powdered sugar if liked.

Notes

Slice the banana bread: You can slice the bread into 1-inch long sticks instead for easy dipping into the maple syrup.
Kid-friendly shapes: Bust out your cookie cutters and use shapes that cover a large surface area so you can cut shapes out of your bread before soaking and cooking. Kids love fun shapes!
Slice the bananas when needed: If you slice them too early, they'll turn brown.
