Keyword: campfire
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup salted butter melted
  • 1 Teaspoon onion powder or garlic powder
  • 1 Teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper orange, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper red, sliced
  • 1 onion sweet onion or red onion maybe
  • 1 Package bratwurst
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the BBQ to medium (350 degrees F) or get campfire started.
  • Cut 4 aluminum foil about 12 inches wide. Set aside.
  • Pour the melted butter into a small bowl or small mason jar and mix in the onion powder and parsley. Mix until all ingredients are combined.
  • Divide the peppers and onions equally between all four foil.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the butter mixture over the peppers and onions.
  • Place a Bratwurst on top and close each foil tightly.
  • Place on the grill and cook for 15 to 20 minutes. The sausages will be cooked and the peppers and onions will be tender.
  • Place each foil packet on the sides (less heat but keeping the vegetables warm) of the grill, take the sausage out and place in the middle of the grill (hotter spot).
  • Grill the sausages on all sides for 2 to 3 minutes, then serve everything together.

Notes

Plan ahead: If you're taking this camping, it's easier if you prepare the butter mixture ahead and just keep it in a small jar.
Use the extra bratwurst: As most bratwurst packages seem to come in multiples of 5, you can add an extra one to one of the foil packages. Another option is making 5 packages instead of 4 of them.
Luscious leftovers: Chop the leftovers and use them as a baked potato filling or enjoy them with pasta or rice.
