Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup mango fresh chunks
  • ½ Cup pineapple fresh chunks
  • Cups mango-passionfruit juice
  • 1 Cup sherbet pineapple flavor
  • 2 Cups ice

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a large blender, then put the lid on the blender.
  • After a couple of initial pulses, set the blender on a low speed. Increase the speed gradually.
  • Blend for about 1 minute, or until the smoothie is thick and completely smooth.
  • Pour the smoothie into a tall glass and serve.

Notes

Go for ripe fruit: This is one recipe where really ripe mango makes a difference. The sweeter and juicier the fruit, the better the smoothie tastes.
Don’t dump in extra sweetener right away: Between the ripe fruit, juice and sherbet, I find there’s usually plenty of sweetness already. Taste it after blending before deciding it needs anything else.
Make it as thick as you like: I love a thick, frosty smoothie, so frozen mango is a great option. If your blender struggles with it, just add another splash of juice.
Start the blender slowly: Give everything a few pulses first, then gradually increase the speed. It helps get those fruit and ice chunks moving without everything getting stuck.
Drink it right away: This is not one I’d make hours ahead. It’s at its creamy, frosty best straight from the blender.
