Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies

These Oreo chocolate chip cookies are chewy and easy to make. They have Oreo in them for the Oreo cookie lover.

Ingredients

  • 25 Oreo cookies regular, divided
  • 1 Package chocolate chip cookie mix
  • ½ Cup salted butter at room temperature
  • ¾ Cup sour cream at room temperature
  • 1 egg large, at room temperature
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ Cup chocolate chips semi-sweet

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, and place off to the side.
  • Using a large cutting board, rough chop the Oreo cookies and set aside.
  • Mix the chocolate chip cookie mix, butter, and egg in a medium bowl using a spatula or hand mixer.
  • Add in the sour cream and vanilla and stir well to combine.
  • Pour in the chocolate chips and half of the Oreo cookies.
  • Drop a rounded Tablespoon or 1 ½ Tablespoon cookie scoop of the mixture onto your prepared cookie sheet.
  • Press reserved pieces of Oreo cookie into the top of each cookie.
  • Bake the cookies on the middle rack for 10 to 14 minutes or until the edges are firm and the middle is set.
  • Place the cookies on a wire rack to cool for about 10 minutes, and serve warm.

Notes

Count your cookies: If you're using regular Oreos or another kind of sandwich cookie then you'll need about 25 cookies, but if you're using a smaller or larger type of cookie, adjust the amount accordingly.
Use parchment paper: Don't skip the parchment paper, otherwise your cookies might stick to the baking sheet and break when you try to remove them.
Check for doneness: The cookies are ready to come out of the oven when the middles are set and the edges are firm and slightly golden.
