Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Make the cookies by creaming together the butters, then cream in the sugars, stir in the egg and vanilla, and then gently stir in the flour and baking powder until just combined.
  • Scoop into 2 tablespoon balls and bake the cookies for about 10 minutes, allowing them to cool on the sheet.
  • While the cookies are fresh out of the oven and still hot, add 2 whoppers to the middle of each cookie. Once the whopper starts to melt, it may take a couple of minutes, add the 2 eyes in the front, or on top of, one of the whoppers.
  • Once the cookies have cooled completely, melt the chocolate chips and use a toothpick to draw the legs on.
  • Repeat with the rest of the cookies, allow the chocolate to set and serve.

Notes

Don't overmix the dough: Don't overwork the dough, as soon as the flour and baking powder are just combined then stop mixing, otherwise you'll end up with dense cookies.
Add the whoppers quickly: Add the whoppers as soon as the cookies come out of the oven, so they melt a little and stick to the cookies.
Tweak the sweetness: Some peanut butter brands are sweet while others aren't. If yours is sweet, adjust the amount of sugar you add to the peanut butter spider cookies.
Let them set before serving: Once the chocolate legs have set, you can serve the cookies.
