Ingredients

  • 1 Cup oats any kind except instant
  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • ½ Cup all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¾ Cup unsalted butter cold and cut into cubes
  • 2 Cups strawberries sliced, fresh or thawed
  • 2 Cups peaches sliced, fresh or thawed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon, brown sugar, and cooking oats.
  • Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or a fork until you have a crumbly mix. Set aside.
  • Pour all fruit into pie dish. Sprinkle flour mixture evenly on top of fruit.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes, until fruit is soft enough to be poked through with a fork and crumble is browned.
  • Let it rest for 15 minutes, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream if liked.

Notes

Use cold butter: Cold butter creates the best crumbly texture.
Don’t skip the spice: Cinnamon adds depth and warmth to the crisp.
Let it rest: Allow the crisp to cool slightly before serving for better texture.
