Foolproof Guide to Winter Skincare

I often get compliments about my skin and the healthy glow I have. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so it is my skin that is naturally healthy looking and glowing. Like everyone, I get breakouts and use cover-up to manage those, but typically on any regular day I will just wear mascara and some face powder. Here are my foolproof tips for winter skincare, which will help you get through the season with a healthy glow.

This is a great habit to have year round because staying hydrated is just so important. Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go and keep sipping throughout the day. Don’t wait until you are thirsty. I find that by adding a few slices of lemon or lime to my water I drink a lot more. If you are tired of water, try unsweetened lemon green ice tea. Drink, drink, drink to help fight dry skin!

Eat Right

Your winter skin care routine should include eating right.  Eating right will help to give your skin a healthy glow. You will be amazed to see how closely healthy skin and healthy eating are linked.

Another important step to keep your skin naturally gorgeous is exfoliating. Removing the dead, and dry outer layer of skin will help keep it brilliant by removing the layers of dead skin cells and dirt that are blocking your pores and your skin’s natural glow.

Another benefit of exfoliating is that it will also help your makeup apply smoothly. Yah for smooth skin!

Remove Makeup

As soon as I get home, I wash my makeup off of my face. Even though I don’t wear a lot of makeup, it is a good habit to get into. Makeup can clog pores and lead to breakouts and who needs that!

Washing your face at least once a day is important to get rid of the dirt that accumulates throughout the day. I start by using Simple Cleansing Face Wipes. These pre-moistened cloths will gently dissolve all traces of makeup for clean, makeup-free skin in one easy step. They are tough on make-up and gentle on skin.  After washing, make sure that you moisturize!

I pick up my Simple Cleansing Face Wipes at my local Walmart. I always find the basics that I need in the skin care aisle at Walmart. They have a great selection of skin care products for all skin types.

If you live in the Louisville, KY or Winter Garden, FL area, make sure to check out one of the two in-store Beauty Barista events at Walmart! You can learn about hot trends, product innovations and receive samples from the Beauty Barista!

The Beauty Barista events are scheduled to take place 11/16 to 12/16 at:

  • Winter Garden Walmart – 16313 New Independence Pkwy. Winter Garden, FL 34787
  • Louisville Walmart – 4840 Outer Loop Louisville, KY 40219

Moisturize and Use Sunscreen (ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS)!

Apply moisturizer like its your day job!  I apply it twice a day and not just on my face. My skin gets so dry in the winter, which leads to eczema, so I apply moisturizer everywhere!

Sunscreen isn’t just important in the summer. It is important to protect your skin in the winter by wearing sunscreen. Whether you plan to be in the sun for 15 minutes or 5 hours, it is so important to use sunscreen to protect your skin. Skin cancer is no joke! Luckily it isn’t too hard because usually there is a lot less skin exposed in the winter months!
