August is coming to a close and with evenings that are getting cooler, you can feel autumn right around the corner. As much as I love summer, I am keen to move on to layers and plaid. Here on the west coast, it is so dreary and wet from November to March, so now is the time to get outside to do those last few fun things on your summer bucket list.
With many lakes and rivers in my area, summer and autumn is often spent enjoying the water in some fashion…kayaking, boating, fishing or just relaxing on a floatie. My pup Beau is a huge fan of the water (however not baths so much lol) and I usually walk him along the dike most days so that he can swim. This adventure is in a canoe, which Beau doesn’t completely understand because he would prefer to be inside the water instead of floating on top of it. Poor guy…
However, Beau is game for anything as long as we are together. That’s what I love about him the most.
As with any adventure, proper footwear is key. Since I was a young girl, the KEEN Newport sandal has been what I grab for these types of activities. In fact, my whole family had a pair. I wish I had time to go through old photos to find a pic of us all in them…but I didn’t get a chance. I am sure there are a few of these gems in a photo box somewhere.
The KEEN Newport sandal was the first shoe they ever came out with 15 years ago in 2003. Oddly enough, not much has changed with the Newport since that time. They look almost the same, are as comfortable as ever and still have the classic also bungee closure. They are also still perfect for on the land or in the water
To celebrate 15 years, KEEN has brought all-new materials to the Newport. They have upcycled rice husks in the outsole and webbing made from recycled plastic bottles. What’s not to love about this!?!
In case you are wondering…Beau and I don’t always dress the same, but when we do it is cute! Lol!
The KEEN Newport sandal isn’t just a sandal…it’s a way of life. It’s knowing you are going to be ready for any water adventure. Having a good shoe, the one of the most important things when it comes to enjoying the outdoors comfortably.
Thanks to Braedin for taking Beau and I out in his canoe on this lovely but very smoky day. I love the pics he got of us. I am definitely getting one of these printed for the gallery wall.
One of my favourite things about the Newport sandal is that you can throw them in the washing machine to keep them looking (and smelling) fresh. Beau often needs a bath for the same reasons after a day in the water. ?
What is your favourite water activity? I really want to try to SUP with Beau. Now that he is getting older I think he will cooperate and stay on the board. Adding that to the summer fun list for next year.
