Listen, finding the motivation to get out of your cozy, cool, and comfy bed at 6 a.m. is hard enough. Let alone finding even more motivation to go and start working out. Although I love working out and I see the great benefits it has for my body, I understand the actual thought of it sometimes is already enough of a workout. But we don’t have to dread doing our burpees and wall sits no longer! I have six kick ass ways to keep exercise fun and more of any activity you want to do!
1. Find an Awesome Workout Outfit
Okay, hear me out. If you feel good in what you are wearing, your attitude is going to follow suit and get you excited to workout in this new outfit! When you are excited to workout, it is easier to keep exercise fun! Just remember, you don’t even have to go to an expensive athletic store! Run to your nearest TJ Maxx, Target, or Walmart and check out all of their inexpensive selections. When your outfit is on point, you have a better chance of your workout being the same.

2. Grab a Buddy!
Although Beau would love to spend the time I spend at the gym playing in the backyard, (and I would love the extra puppy love!), I can’t always include him in my workouts! Working out with a friend not only keeps you moving and interested in what you’re doing, but they keep you motivated and accountable.
It is easy to keep exercise fun with a friend (animal or human)! You both can do partner workouts, hit the trails with your dog, get pumped up on the car ride over to the gym, and give looks to each other about the cute guy doing weights next to y’all!
3. Make a Killer Playlist
Music is the best way to put anyone in literally any mood – including wanting to exercise! Get on your favourite music sharing app, title it your goal or a funny name (mine is below), and throw on every Cardi B and Drake song you can think of. Have a song or two that gets you pumped or want to get down at the club? Download those ASAP so you can get down at the club. Not to mention, if you are listening to the music blasting in your headphones, you’re less focused on how much you’re sweating during your workout!

4. Change It Up! (Even Every Day If You Wanna!)
Not only getting in a rut when it comes to exercise makes it boring and almost a chore, but it is actually not that great for your body, either! Fitness expert Jillian Michaels says, “To challenge and strengthen your body, you’ll need to change up your workouts! Try different forms of cardio, follow split routines, or simply switch up the weight you’re lifting and the repetitions.” There are apparent scientific reasons why people have dedicated leg, arm, and cardio days! And who wants to work out the same areas the next day when they’re hella sore?! Thank u, next!
5. Check Out Apps or Youtube For Inspo
Let’s get real: gym memberships and classes can rack up those dollar signs really quickly, so sometimes they just aren’t an option. Get on that phone of yours and get to the app store to look up amazing apps that can help you replace the gym. Most of these apps are adaptable so that you don’t need a ton of gym equipment and maybe just a jump rope or hand weights. Not finding an app that you can get into? Look up workout channels where you can visually see how to properly do a workout. And I’ve come to find out that if you have any questions about workouts or want to dive further into more information – you can actually contact the trainer via comments or Instagram DMs. But don’t forget to be respectful!
My favourite workouts right now are on Instagram with rrayyme and bootybymich. Rayyme shares a workout every morning at 9am and Michelle shares a workout every day, too! Michelle posts affirmations for exercise and life in general. Love them!
6. Reward Yourself
Although you’re working towards a goal and want to hit it, don’t forget to reward and relax your body when it not only deserves it, but needs it. Get yourself a congratulatory massage when you hit a goal or take the weekend to sleep in and rejuvenate your body for a little while. And just because you haven’t finished all of your sets doesn’t mean you should lose another hour of sleep because of it. Make sure you are taking care of yourself and listening to your body. You can’t get to your goals if you ignore the “check engine light” your body is signalling you!
Working out can seem like the end all be all of a normal life. Getting up early for runs, being sore for days at a time, and taking more showers than ever before. However, you will never, ever regret a workout! They are great for stress relief, a way to meditate and clear your mind, and your overall health. Once you get into the swing of things, it gets easier day by day! Get your sweat on, boo!

It makes a difference to me too to work out in fun gym clothes. Great tips and music helps a lot!!
Quarantine is seriously killing my fitness so I really needed this post. I’ll definitely be using the ideas of wearing cute active wear and changing up my routine every day (because doing the same thing makes me dread dread dread exercise) – Those were good tips. Also thank you for the instagram recommendations! There’s a whole world of workouts online that I never really considered before the pandemic :’). I’m living for personal blogs at the moment so thanks for this space!

Khalid and Lauv have such great workout songs! I also agree with finding cute fun workout clothes. That always helps. I miss going to my gym and seeing my workout friends there.
These are perfect! I love changing up the routine, definitely keep you from getting bored! Those songs too!!!!
I love these. I usually stick to jogging daily, but I should probably add some workouts at home as well.
Wonderful tips! I also love that you added a kick butt playlist that everyone can enjoy. Thank you!

Your beautiful smile is something one would never see on me while working out. I look like a dying goat.
