Grilled S’mores Pizza Ingredients

A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Flatbreads: The base for the pizza, sturdy and easy to grill. As it’s for a dessert pizza crust, use plain flatbreads, not the garlic or herb kind!
Nutella: Adds a creamy, chocolate-hazelnut layer that melts beautifully.
Graham cracker crumbs: For crunch and classic s’mores flavor.
Mini marshmallows: Toast up perfectly for gooey texture and sweetness.
Hershey bar: A s’mores essential, melted into the top layer.

How to Make S’mores Dessert Pizza

For more detailed instructions with weights and measurements, jump to the printable recipe card.

Start the fire: Heat a grill or campfire to medium temperature.
Assemble the base: Spread Nutella evenly over each flatbread.
Add toppings: Sprinkle with crushed graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate.
Wrap in foil: Create a foil tent around each pizza, leaving space at the top. Use a double layer of heavy duty foil so you don’t need a pizza pan or baking sheet.
Grill the pizzas: Cook directly on the grill, rotating once, until the toppings are melted and gooey. Watch carefully so it doesn’t overcook.
Serve and enjoy: Carefully unwrap and serve warm.

Substitutions and Variations

Use chocolate chips instead of Nutella: Melt and spread semi-sweet chips for a rich twist.
Swap spreads: Try Biscoff, peanut butter or flavored chocolate chips instead of Nutella chocolate sauce.
Graham cracker pieces: You can use another type of cookie in this dessert pizza recipe.
Change the chocolate: Use dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, or flavored Hershey bars for variety.
Marshmallows: You can use marshmallow fluff instead of the 2 cups mini marshmallows.
Flatbread: You can use pita or naan bread instead, although flatbread is the sturdiest so I prefer to use that.
Add some heat: A drizzle of hot honey on top isn’t part of traditional s’mores but it adds sticky sweetness and a fun touch of heat!

How to Store S’mores Dessert Pizza

Store: These are best served fresh, so only make as many as you need. If you do have leftovers though, keep them refrigerated and eat within 2 to 3 days.
Freeze: I don’t recommend freezing these, as the flatbread graham cracker cookie crust will just go soggy.
Reheat: Warm them back up in air fryer for 2 minutes at 300°F or pop them back on a hot grill. You don’t want to reheat too long or too hot, as the marshmallow will melt away.

Top Tips

Use heavy-duty foil: Double-layer heavy duty foil for better heat control and even cooking. One layer cooked the bottom of the pizza too fast, leaving the chocolate and marshmallow on top not perfectly ooey gooey. (I love this heavy duty foil!)
Don’t wrap too tightly: A loose foil tent allows for better melting and prevents burning.
Rotate while grilling: This ensures the marshmallows puff evenly and the chocolate melts just right.
Cut into slices: Serve the dessert pizza whole or use a pizza cutter to cut smaller servings.

Foil Packet S’mores Pizza FAQs

Can I use chocolate chips instead of Nutella?

Yes. Use ½ cup of those instead of the Nutella. To do that, cut a piece of foil and fold it in half. Make sure it’s big enough for the flatbread to rest on it. It will act as a place or a cookie sheet. Put the flatbread on top of the foil. Add the chocolate chips, and spread evenly. Cook it for a couple of minutes, then spread the chocolate evenly across the flatbread with a knife. Add the graham crackers, marshmallow and Hershey bar on top. Make sure they are spread evenly. Cook until marshmallows start to melt.

Do I need a lid on my grill to cook this properly?

A lid helps the toppings melt evenly, but you can also rotate and adjust the foil for similar results.

Can I make this without a grill or campfire?

Yes, you can bake it in a conventional oven or use an air fryer for similar results.

Campfire S’mores Pizza

This fun campfire dessert puts a creative spin on classic s’mores. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep, these flatbread pizzas are easy to assemble and grill. They’re perfect for outdoor evenings with friends.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 6 minutes
Total Time: 11 minutes
Servings: 2 dessert pizzas

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Start your campfire or grill, get it to about 350 to 375°F.
  • Evenly spread half the Nutella on the flatbread.
  • Sprinkle evenly half of the crumbled graham crackers on top of the Nutella.
  • Add the marshmallow
  • Use half of a Hershey bar. Break each rectangle in half and add it to the pizza.
  • Repeat for the second pizza.
  • Cut 2 pieces of aluminum foil. Make sure they are long enough.
  • Place one s’mores pizza in the center. Fold the foil back to create a tent. You don’t want to wrap it too tightly. But also you don’t want it to big, as it needs to fit on the BBQ. Leave an inch or 2 of space between the pizza and the foil. You can reuse the foil for the second pizza or cut more foil.
  • Place the foil on the BBQ grill (no need to cover).
  • Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then rotate and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, until the marshmallows are puffy and the chocolate is melted.
  • Serve immediately.
