If you’re considering getting a dog or already have one, it’s good to remember that each dog has its own unique personality. Some might be serious and calm, while others are more playful or quirky. This lineup of the most dramatic dog breeds could give you some inspiration if you’re on the hunt for a furry best friend to bring fun and laughter into your home!
Husky

Huskies are well-known to be dramatic, sassy, and all around attitudinal. Husky owners love this about them, but their dramatics can be an acquired taste, so to speak.
German Shepherd
Despite their reputation for being fierce protectors—they are used as police dogs, after all—German Shepherd dogs can be completely high drama. One owner says that when they try to clip their German Shepherd’s toenails “it’s as if he’s going to lose his toes.”
Golden Retriever
Some Golden Retriever owners report that this otherwise easy-going breed is capable of throwing a full temper tantrum if you ask them to go somewhere they don’t want to go, like the vet or the groomer. If you can deal with a dog who becomes a sassy puddle of fluff, the Golden may be for you.
Boxer
Boxers are absolute cuddle bugs, and they get jealous if someone is getting more affection than them. One boxer owner reports that her lap dog will jump down from the couch only for her boxer pup to immediately swoop in to steal the coveted spot on the lap.
Shiba Inu
Shibas have some of the biggest and most recognizable smiles around, but they can also be so highly dramatic. They can be picky about food and bath time, which can occasionally cause whining and dramatic tantrums.
Greyhound
Despite their height and stature, greyhounds can be scaredy cats at times. One greyhound owner says their pup will scream if a leaf blows in their direction, so keep in mind that adopting a greyhound may involve a lot of reassuring pats.
Corgi
These squat little dogs are apparently rather dramatic, always whining to get their way and being highly animated when they’re excited. All that energy in a very small package can make Corgis very interesting companions.
Beagle
Beagles are known for their yappy howls in disgust if something is even slightly off. Pillow too far away? Awooo! Cuddles stopped? Barooo! Prepare yourself to be second in command to a beagle.
English Bulldog
These expressive and dramatic breeds can be so theatrical when they’re mad at you. One bulldog parent says their dog will stand in the corner with his back to them, shooting glares over his shoulder to ensure that they know—that everyone knows—he’s mad at them.
Chihuahua
Sometimes when the world is so much bigger than you, it only makes sense to be dramatic. Chihuahuas may lightly growl or shake at loud noises, inclement weather, or their humans being just a bit off schedule with walks or feeding times.
