As soon as our plane started to descend and I saw the spellbinding island of Saint Lucia that awaited me, I knew I was going to love it there. With the twin peaks of the Pitons rising dramatically from the sea, the palm fringed beaches and the rainforest full of waterfalls, St. Lucia draws travellers from all over the world. It is an island paradise!
Saint Lucia is on the Caribbean’s eastern edge and has rich culture, food and music traditions from its African, East Indian, French, and English heritage. While St. Lucia is known as a honeymooner’s paradise, this impressive island is also a perfect destination for those that like scuba diving, snorkeling and hiking.
During my time in Saint Lucia, I stayed at the breathtaking Sandals Grande St. Lucian. We had so much time to just relax and enjoy all that the resort has to offer. Let’s dive in and I’ll share with you all of my Caribbean adventures!
Day 1 – Pigeon Island
Situated just a short 5-minute walk away from the Sandals Grande St. Lucian, we started the trip with a beautiful hike on Pigeon Island. Pigeon Island is one of the most vibrant and beautiful points of interest in Saint Lucia. It is truly an historic area that has changed in significant ways over the years. Pigeon Island was an island, until it was later connected to the northern portion of Saint Lucia in the early 1970s with a causeway.
We trekked up to the top of one of the island’s more scenic and infamous landmarks. We did the Pigeon Island Pirate Treasure Hunt Tour with Island Routes Tours. In order to view the island’s stunning views, we went on a Pirate Treasure Hunt with them! Although it should be noted we weren’t running around the island with eye patches and swords looking over an ancient treasure map. It really was a nature tour with a few fun “treasures” along the way. The tour was pretty flexible in allowing us to wander about and explore all around Pigeon Island! And the views really are what everyone cracks them up to be!
We actually went back to Pigeon Island at sunset on our own that same day and took some photos on beach because it was so pretty there!
After our Pigeon Island tour, we spent some down time at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian enjoying the huge pool and expansive beach. The resort has hammocks in the water (which were my favourite) and there were also fire pits along the water to spend some time outdoors after dark.
A special thank you to Brendan Williams for joining me on this trip and taking photos.

Day 2 – Soufriere Adventure Cruise
For day 2, we were tired, but SO ready for our all day tour – the Soufriere Adventure Cruise we went on this cruise with Island Route Tours ! It was a catamaran cruise down the coast to the famous Piton Mountains of St. Lucia. The entire time was such a blast.
At one point, we get off the catamaran to get on a shuttle to look at some key attractions and views of the ocean over the mountains. There was a stop for snorkeling and swimming in the clearest waters you have ever seen. This is one of the island’s signature tours because it covers many of the key landmarks and cocoa bean plantations in just one, exciting tour!
It was an incredibly relaxing and dreamy day. Having the wind blow in your hair on the catamaran and then being transported to take in the mesmerizing views of this tropical paradise, I felt like I could stay for another hour (or lifetime) there! We also stopped by this epic waterfall on the tour and went diving! All in all, it was a LONG but very enjoyable day. I love getting an opportunity to go beyond the gates of our beautiful resort and experience the island.
Day 3 – Rained Out Saint Lucia Safari
BOO – it’s the last day and this trip is flying by way too fast! I have a bittersweet love to last days when I travel. Obviously, it totally sucks having to leave such a beautiful resort and time that I’ve had at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian.
We started out our Beach & Waterfall Safari with Island Routes Tours by sampling some local fruits and fuelling up for an all day adventure (I really wish we had all this fresh fruit back home this time of year.) Once we got everything situated, we hopped into our 4×4 Jeep and let our guide take us for a scenic ride! Sadly, we got rained out and the road was flooding (which you can see in my vlog) so the ride was rough, but we still had a really fun time.
The Sandals Grande St. Lucian
The Sandals Grande St. Lucian has a jaw dropping beautiful property with various types of rooms which were complete with stunning views, comfy beds, and so much more.

My experience at the Sandals St. Lucian Resort was definitely memorable and just what I needed to make my sun loving and adventure seeking soul happy. With the weather getting colder, I was happy to be frolicking in cute sundresses and bathing suits again. #SummerForever!

Iโve heard nothing but good things about Saint Lucia and these pics make it look even more appealing! Definitely bumping it up on my bucket list
Iโve always wanted to go on a boat with one of those nets to lay in. We almost did St Lucia for our honeymoon.
Saint Lucia is definitely on my bucket list! I love that you stayed at Sandals, so fun!!
Your room looks amazing. I would love to travel to Saint Lucia someday.
I want to visit the Caribbean Islands! Your photos are stunning and it looks like you had a fantastic trip!
I’ve not traveled to many of the Caribbean Islands. St. Lucia looks fantastic. Just the sort of spot I could daydream about on this snowy morning!
Wow, I knew St. Lucia was gorgeous, but it sounds and looks even more stunning than I’d imagined. Your trip sounded like it was the perfect mix of relaxing at the beautiful Sandals resort and adventurous activities to see more of this island paradise.
Beautiful images capturing Saint Lucia. My brother just got back from visiting there and said it was amazing. A place I want to go in the future for sure.
That looks so relaxing and serene! I definitely wish I was there right now as it’s getting really cold here in Canada haha
