One of my favourite places I got to see while I was in Paris recently was Palais-Royal. I was only there for a few days, so I had a handful of places that I wanted to visit during my stay. I knew I definitely wanted to get photos on the striped Buren Columns while I was there.
Palais-Royal is a beautiful palace and right in Paris. In the courtyard of the Palais-Royal are the Buren Columns which are 260 black and white striped columns and very much like public art we would see in a city today…except they are not new.
I am sure that you have seem many photos of these columns. I was told that all of the columns start in the basement and emerge outdoors at different heights in the courtyard.
I planned to wear black and white with some stripes so that I would coordinate with the columns. I think a bright outfit like red would look amazing, too.
I went at sunrise and the courtyard was closed for access, but speaking to the security guard, they let us in. We just explained we would not have another chance to get to see it. He was so nice about it. As a result, there is no one else in the photos.
It was super fun that my outfit matched perfect with the columns. The dramatic bell sleeves on this Chicwish top matched perfectly and I loved how all the pictures turned out.
There is actually a really great coffee shop right around the corner from here that makes a killer cappuccino. It was open very early and that is where I waited to meet my photographer because as it happens I was able to stop by there the following day, too.
I simply loved Paris and I would go back in a heart beat! It is so full of charter and charm!
A huge thank you to the amazing Meiry for taking these images and making this morning in Paris so magical.
