My recent trip to Kissimmee, Florida was full of fun, sunshine and adventure. Kissimmee (pronounced ka-SIM-mee) is just minutes away from everything you need for the perfect vacation. Whether you want to spend a day at a theme park, kayak, shop, see the sights by bicycle, eat all the best food or chill by the pool…you can do it all here.
Kayaking with the Paddling Center at Shingle Creek was a great way to spend the afternoon. We went out with a guide that took us out on a tour along Shingle Creek. We saw some of the local gators and their babies…which are so cute. This tour was an hour but they have longer tours along with manatee tours, paddle boarding and canoeing, too. I love that you can experience nature so up close and personal in Kissimmee.
We made are way to Disney World and we wanted to see as much as we could in one day. We didn’t just do one park…we did 3!!! We started at Epcot and consumed our weight in food and drink. I love Epcot because its like you are going around the world.
Then we went to Animal Kingdom where we went on a safari and we also checked out The World of Avatar. When I was younger, the Animal Kingdom was my favourite park to visit at Disney World.
I really don’t like rides that much but we went on Everest and it was sooo fun!!! I screamed the whole time, but it was great. From Animal Kingdom made our way to the Magic Kingdom which is a must visit at Disney. Did you even go to Disney World if you don’t go to the Magic Kingdom!?!
My weakness at Disney is all the treats. I always buy way more than I should, but you only live once. 🙂 I especially love the seasonal treats that they have at Halloween and Christmas.
Kissimmee is central to all the theme parks, making it a great place to stay when you visit Florida.
If you haven’t been to Celebration, you are totally missing out. This was my second time visiting here. Celebrations was founded by The Walt Disney Company in the mid-1990s. It is a master-planned community that was fashioned after historical American small towns. It is picture perfect full of cookie cutter houses and white picket fences. It is like it is right out of a movie.
One of the best ways to spend an afternoon is to get a bike from the Celebration Bike Rental and tour the area on the many trails and picturesque streets. If you are lucky you will see gators in the ponds and wild boar! While you are there you should eat at Columbia Restaurant. It is sooo good and a very popular place in Celebration.
Another great spot to check out when you are in Kissimmee is Disney Springs. They have so many shopping and dining options or even just walk around and people watch. I highly suggest that you check out the gluten free vegan bakery called Erin McKenna’s …I had a cupcake and OMG so good. For dinner I would suggest Wine Bar George which has tasty food and a great selection of wine.
While in Kissimmee we stayed at the newly opened Margaritaville Resort …and we were there for National Margarita Day which was amazing! While staying at the Margaritaville Resort make sure you hit the pool. It was literally like paradise there so make sure you plan some time to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
At the resort you can either stay in their traditional rooms or there are cottage rentals which have many rooms, kitchens and their own pools. The cottages are a great option for big families or groups. Plus…they are such cute colours with a Key West vibe.
The hotel has 3 restaurants, an amazing pool area and the decor in the hotel is all beach themed. The restaurants had tons of gluten free options which is always important for me when traveling. The hotel offers a shuttle service to most places and the theme parks. So glad that I was there with a fun group…I can’t wait to go back again one day soon.
A special thank you to Faith for joining me on this trip and taking photos for me.
Thanks for stopping by!
