Melt the Rolos on the pretzels: Arrange the pretzels on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and add a Rolo on top of each pretzel. Bake in the oven for a couple of minutes to soften the chocolate.
Add the candies: Press an M&M on top of each Rolo and then add the sprinkles.
Let them set: Let these Christmas Rolo pretzels set before you serve them.
Substitutions and Variations
Pretzels: You can use the square pretzels, the round ones or the twist ones. Not a pretzel fan? Use little cookies or crackers.
Rolos: I love the dark caramel Rolos but you can use the milk chocolate ones if you prefer. And feel free to swap the Rolos for another chocolate candy, perhaps peanut butter cups or some soft caramels.
M&Ms: Red and green are festive and Christmassy but you can use whatever colors you want, or sub another kind of candy like Skittles or even nuts like walnuts or pecan halves.
Sprinkles: Anything festive goes!
Serving Suggestions
Appetizers: You can serve these up as appetizers, perhaps paired with something savory like a charcuterie Christmas tree.
Main dish: Next up, how does a sheet pan ham dinner sound, or perhaps you’d prefer smoked turkey breast or holiday roasted chicken?
Desserts: Christmas Rolo pretzels make a tasty dessert, either as they are or paired with another Christmas treat like Christmas marshmallow pops.
How to Store Rolo Pretzels
Store: Keep leftovers in an airtight container on the counter for up to 3 weeks or in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
Freeze: Don’t freeze Rolo pretzels – the pretzels will thaw out soggy.
Top Tips
Use parchment paper: Don’t skip this – you don’t want your Rolo candy pretzels sticking to the baking sheet.
Soften the Rolos: You only need to give them a couple of minutes in the oven because it’s just to soften the chocolate (so you can press the M&Ms into them) not to melt them. They usually take 2 minutes if they’re at room temperature or 3 minutes if you had them refrigerated.
Work quickly: You need to add the M&Ms quickly, so they can adhere to the Rolos before the chocolate has set.
Make extra: You can double or triple the recipe if you want to, but work in batches so you can finish decorating them before the chocolate has set too much.
