I love decorating my apartment and making it feel like my own space. Of course, I know it’s not always easy to decorate a rental apartment because there are certain things you’re not allowed to do. This is why I’ll suggest decorating with wall decals to anyone who will listen.
Why Decorate with Wall Decals
Wall decals are a dream come true for anyone who lives in a rental apartment, including yours truly. The self-adhesive backing makes it easy to stick them to the surface. If you want to remove the decals, you can do so without damaging the walls.
TIP: Save your decal sheets! If you want or need to remove them for any reason, you can place them back on the sheets for safe storage.
Decorating with wall decals allows you to transform your rental apartment into a place that fits your style. The decals come in designs ranging from fun patterns to colorful shapes.
What to Consider When Decorating with Wall Decals
The first thing you should consider when decorating with wall decals is the price. There are many decals offered at a reasonable price, but remember, the price is going to vary per style and brand.
When costing out the decals, measure the wall you want to apply them to, so you can see how many packages you will need. For the wall that I did, I wanted a dense layout, so I purchased more packages than if I were to have created a sparse design.

The design is another thing to consider, as you’re choosing from a wide selection of graphics and phrases. Adorn your wall in butterflies, floral prints or splashes of color, or hang a motivational message to greet you each morning.
My wall decals are the brand Urban Walls which I purchased at Wayfair.
Tips for Decorating with Wall Decals
Before you transform your apartment with decals, you need to clean the wall, so your decals don’t fall off too soon. Also, if you just painted, wait a few weeks for the paint to cure.
It’s also best to choose the place and position of your decals in advance. Trust me, you want to have a plan in mind when decorating any space.
I cannot stress this final tip enough but save your decal sheets! If you want or need to remove them for any reason, you can place them back on the sheets for safe storage.
