Substitutions and Variations

You can swap the fries for tortilla chips if you want a more traditional nachos recipe or have leftover roasted chicken instead of steak on this one. Sub shoestring fries or regular French fries for the wedges if you prefer those in this Taco Bell inspired nachos dish.

You might also want to serve sour cream with this since it will go well with the nachos and steak and also contrast with the hot sauce. You can use reduced-fat sour cream if you prefer.

What to Serve with Loaded Truff Nacho Fries

This is a meal in one since the loaded nacho fries include potatoes, steak, vegetables, cheese, and more. Just because this is a complete meal doesn’t mean it has to stop there. Maybe keep the south-of-the-border theme going by having Mexican rice pudding for dessert.

How to Store Loaded Fries with Warm Nacho Cheese Sauce

Store:  Keep any Taco Bell Truff sauce nachos leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and eat within two days.
Freeze: This isn’t a great dish to freeze because of the fresh tomatoes and cheese sauce.

Loaded Truff Nacho Fries FAQs

What is Truff hot sauce?

Truff is a brand that makes a variety of hot sauces. Their black truffle-infused hot sauce tastes so good and works perfectly in this loaded Truff nacho fries dish. You can buy Truff hot sauce on Amazon. Bear in mind this sauce ranges from hot to hotter, so pick the one you prefer based on how much heat you prefer from your hot sauce.

How do you know when the steak is done?

First, ensure your skillet is lightly greased and very hot before adding the steak. You want to “sear” it so it ends up with that lovely crust on the outside.

It should take about 4 minutes per side to come out juicy and medium rare, but you can cook it less or more depending on how you like your steak. Also, it might take longer if it’s a thick steak or vice versa.

If you have leftover grilled marinated steak or another kind, you can use that instead of cooking steak from scratch.
