Soak the twine: Let the cooking twine sit in water to prevent burning.
Cook the filling: Melt butter in a pan and cook the walnuts and blueberries, then stir in sugar and cinnamon.
Prep the pastry: Roll out the sheet, seal cracks, and place the cheese in the center.
Assemble the brie: Spoon filling over the brie, wrap with pastry and tie twine around it gently.
Air fry the pastry: Place on parchment or oiled paper and cook until golden and puffed.
Finish and serve: Drizzle with caramel, garnish with rosemary and blueberries, and serve with dippers.
Substitutions and Variations
Try different fruit: Swap blueberries for raspberries, blackberries or a mix.
Use pecans or almonds: Any toasted nut will work well in place of walnuts.
Go savory: Leave out the caramel and sugar and add herbs or a garlic spread instead.
Brie cheese: Camembert is a good substitute, but brie gives the creamiest result.
Make it mini: Cut smaller pastry squares and use mini brie wheels for individual servings.
Serving Suggestions
With dippers: Pretzels, carrot and celery sticks, raw broccoli and cauliflower florets, and apple slices are all great ideas for dipping.
With other dips: Serve up a trio of dips, perhaps also making baked artichoke dip and French onion bacon dip.
With other appetizers: A few ideas include million dollar deviled eggs, smoked shrimp and any of these tasty tailgate appetizers.
How to Store Air Fried Baked Brie Dip
Store: Once the cheese returns to room temperature, transfer it into an airtight container and keep refrigerated for a day or 2.
Freeze: I don’t recommend freezing this.
Reheat: Place it in an oven-safe dish and cook it in a 350°F oven until gooey again.
Top Tips
Seal the pastry well: This helps keep all that melty cheese inside.
Don’t overtighten the twine: Leave room for the pastry to puff as it cooks.
Chill the wrapped brie briefly: A few minutes in the fridge before air frying can help it hold its shape.
Serve immediately: The brie is best when warm and gooey inside.
Baked Brie with Blueberries FAQs
Brie is produced by combining raw milk with rennet and then warming it up. Next, the mixture is set in molds and drained for about 18 hours. It is then salted and cheese culture is added. After this, it’s left for 4 or 5 weeks to age. Brie cheese can also mature for up to a year, resulting in a richer flavor. If it’s over-ripened however, the cheese will smell and taste of ammonia, which isn’t good!
Yes, just thaw them first and drain any excess liquid to avoid soggy pastry.
No, it’s optional and just adds a decorative finish, but the brie will bake fine without it.
Air Fryer Blueberry Brie Pastry and Dip Appetizer Recipe
Air Fryer Baked Brie with Blueberries
Equipment
- Cooking Twine 4 x 20-Inch Lengths
Ingredients
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 Cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 Cup blueberries
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 Wheel brie cheese, 8-Ounce
- 1 Sheet pastry
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 Cup caramel sauce
- rosemary, optional garnish
Instructions
- Soak the cooking twine in water for 10 minutes.
- Heat a pan over medium heat. Melt the butter, then add walnuts and blueberries. Cook for 5 minutes. Transfer to a medium mixing bowl and combine with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
- Roll out the pastry sheet and pinch to seal any cracks from the fold. Place the brie wheel in the center of the pastry sheet. Top with blueberries and walnuts, then wrap the puff pastry tightly over the top.
- Brush with egg wash, then sprinkle with sugar. Place cooking twine in a starburst pattern on a wooden cutting board and place the pastry over the twine in the centre. Tie the cooking twine over the center of the pastry and trim the excess. I recommend you tie twine just tight enough to press against the pastry, but not tight enough to create a crease- the pastry will “puff” as it cooks.
- Lay a small circle off oil or parchment paper in the air fryer basket, so it covers the space just under the pastry. Place pastry on top and cook for 10 minutes.
- Drizzle pastry with caramel sauce and garnish with blueberries and rosemary. Serve with extra blueberry mix, pretzels and cookie crisps. Cut a small hole in the center to dip.
Notes
Don’t overtighten the twine: Leave room for the pastry to puff as it cooks.
Chill the wrapped brie briefly: A few minutes in the fridge before air frying can help it hold its shape.
Serve immediately: The brie is best when warm and gooey inside.
