Use a large flour tortilla if you’re ravenously hungry or smaller tortillas if you prefer.

Folded Tortilla Ingredients
For this crunchy beef tortilla, I used taco beef and then added in some vegetables and cheese for colour, crunch and flavour. You could use taco seasoning but I prefer to make my own so I know exactly what’s in there. If you want to make a lot of homemade taco seasoning, combine one part each chilli powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, onion powder and oregano, mix well and keep in a sealed container.
I used a teaspoon of each in my recipe, which is perfect for the amount of beef in this beef tortilla folded wrap. After browning the beef in a little oil, I assembled the Tik Tok folded tortilla with it as well as the other ingredients. This was a filling, satisfying meal. It would work for lunch or dinner.
What Exactly is the Tik Tok Tortilla Anyway?
Tik Tok might be relatively new in the world of social media apps, but it sure is a great place to share hacks. The Tik Tok folded tortilla has attracted a lot of hype lately and is still trending. I tried to find who created this folded tortilla first, and I think it was @EllCarter1. So I just had to try this beef tortilla folded wrap for myself!
Basically for this beef tortilla recipe you simply need a tortilla and some fillings. Lay out the tortilla and cut from the middle of the tortilla across to the edge. Each of the four quadrants is then filled with your preferred fillings. After that, the whole thing is folded up and you can eat it like that, or grill it, or pop it in a Panini press. A folded tortilla sandwich is easy, so just follow the instructions.
Tik Tok Tortilla Instructions
The folded tortilla hack means the filled tortilla won’t break or burst because it’s folded not rolled. It’s easy to make and easy (not messy!) to eat. This folded, triangular shape wrap is trending so much on Tik Tok because it’s totally customizable.
Put a tortilla in front of you and imagine it’s a clock face. Use a sharp knife to cut from the center to where 12 o’clock would be. Now imagine it’s made up of 4 quadrants, so you have 12 to 3 o’clock, 3 to 6 o’clock, 6 to 9 o’clock and finally 9 to 12 o’clock.
So put a different filling in each of these quadrants. Lift up one quadrant and put it clockwise over the next one, then repeat, folding that over the next one and finally fold the remaining one over the last one. What you have now is a tortilla folded up so it’s triangular shaped with a different filling between each fold! This is the genius that is the folded tortilla hack!
When I made this crunchy beef tortilla, I had some cheese in one quadrant, or section, of the tortilla. In the next one I added lettuce and cherry tomato. For the third section I put ranch dressing, corn and onion. In the last one I added the taco beef. This beef tortilla folded wrap only took a couple of minutes per side to cook.
Other Tik Tok Tortilla Variations
Although I think my TikTok beef tortilla is great, I’m going to have fun experimenting with alternative fillings. Let’s start with the tortilla though. A large tortilla is good here and 10-inch flour ones work well, but you can also use corn tortillas. Depending on the type of tortillas you’re using (and how long the package has been open) they might need 10 seconds in the microwave to make them more pliable before filling and folding.
You can use pretty much anything you like as the fillings for your crunchy taco. What about leftover shredded rotisserie chicken, melty cheese, bacon, tomato slices and onion? Or ham, pineapple, bell pepper and cheese? If you have a sweet tooth, you might like to use strawberries, cream cheese, banana and Nutella!
Make sure there is something sticky in at least one of the sections, such as salsa, dressing, or cheese (which will melt). You don’t want to have 4 dry fillings because then the tortilla might fall apart when you try to flip it over during cooking.
Folded Tortilla Wrap FAQs
Yes, you can make these folded tortillas ahead of time. Store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container until you are ready to eat them. Heat them up in a pan, microwave or in the oven before serving.
Feel free to get creative and add other ingredients to the filling, such as diced vegetables or different types of cheese. Refried beans, black beans or other protein like ground turkey would be tasty, too. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
