Vodka Christmas drinks are always a delicious way of celebrating the sweet side of the holidays. A chocolate martini cocktail using cake flavoured vodka is special enough for a Christmas party and is a festive delight in liquid form.

Milk, Nutella and cake flavored vodka are all you need to make this mouthwatering boozy holiday drink. I think it is especially cute served in this glass moose mug from a favourite Christmas movie. This will be one of the easy Christmas vodka cocktails that you make on repeat!

You might not have cake flavored vodka in your liquor cabinet but it’s worth getting to give this chocolate cocktail the best flavour. You can also mix this kind of vodka with Sprite or 7Up to make a cream soda flavored cocktail if you still have some left after New Year’s! Or even make that for New Year’s Eve. Nutella cocktails are always delicious so add a generous splash of Pinnacle vodka and enjoy every sip.

Chocolate Cake Martini Cocktail Ingredients

Nutella provides the chocolate flavor in this festive chocolate martini. There are Nutella alternatives so if you have a different preference, go ahead and use that. There are other Christmas drinks with vodka as well as other cocktails with Nutella, so you’ll find plenty of ways to use both.

Nutella is a chocolate hazelnut spread of course, but maybe you aren’t a nut fan. In that case you can opt for a nut-free chocolate spread. For a vegan alternative, look out for the Rigoni brand which is a vegan-friendly chocolate spread that’s made in Italy.

Next up on the list of ingredients you’ll see cake-flavoured vodka. Now this might not be a vodka variation you’ve seen or tried before. If you are a cake fan though (and who isn’t!) you’ll like it. It’s like taking a big bite of chocolate cake in liquid form and this vodka holiday cocktail makes such a fun drink too.

Pinnacle cake vodka is one brand to consider or perhaps you find another. I like this brand and there are various Pinnacle cake vodka recipes to consider for Christmas, New Year’s Eve or whenever you fancy a treat. The UV brand is another option. It shouldn’t be hard to find but if you can’t find it and really want to make this chocolate cocktail, you can order some online for this Nutella drink.

Failing that, see if you can find whipped cream flavour vodka which is similar and will also give this Christmas vodka cocktail and other vodka cocktails plenty of incredible appeal and taste.

As for the milk, feel free to sub another kind of milk, even non-dairy milk. The flavour will be slightly different but I’m sure it would still be delicious.

What about the Garnish?

Garnishing this milk, Nutella and cake flavoured vodka cocktail is the fun part. Last time I made this, I used chocolate cake slices and some Christmas sprinkles (red, green and white ones). But these are both optional.

Part of the fun of making cocktail recipes is coming up with your own decorations and you can’t really go wrong. Anything from cookies to chocolate shavings that taste of fluffy chocolate cake to other garnishes would be great here.

You don’t need to bake a chocolate cake to make this Christmas party mixed drink delicious. Another chocolate martini garnish option is dipping the rims of the serving glasses in Nutella then rolling in sprinkles or graham crumbs. This glass moose mug is a holiday favourite!

Another option would be cutting round pieces of a store-bought chocolate cake (perfect for the chocolate lover) and then cutting them in half so they balance on the glasses. Leave a space so you can fit the straw in. Spread some of the chocolate spread over the cake slices and then add the sprinkles. You can save some to use on other drinks with cake vodka too as well as this Nutella martini cocktail.

Can You Make a Non-Alcoholic Version?

Perhaps you love the sound of this Christmas chocolate cake cocktail but you’d prefer not to have a boozy holiday drink. In that case, you can replace the vodka with cake flavour syrup instead.

How to Make Vodka Chocolate Cocktail

Put the milk, Nutella and cake flavoured vodka in a blender and mix until everything is well combined. I like to add a pinch of salt at this point. When making sweet recipes, whether it’s a Christmas party mixed drink or a cake, a pinch of salt makes the sweet flavours ‘pop’! Try it and you’ll see. If you love Nutella, this is the martini recipe for you to try at your next cocktail party.

Pour the Christmas Nutella martini into two serving glasses then add a chocolate cake cut-out, chocolate spread and sprinkles (or your preferred garnish) on top.

It’s possible to make this boozy holiday drink up to a couple days ahead. If you do, keep it refrigerated and in an airtight container. Shake the chocolate Christmas cocktail well before serving.

Another option is serving this cocktail warm, which is always nice when the weather is chilly. Also, there’s something cute and festive about warm cocktails!

Simply warm the Nutella, milk and salt in a pan then mix in the vodka and serve. If you are doing this, have your garnish to hand so the drinks don’t get cold while you’re cutting out pieces of cake.

Christmas Chocolate Cake Cocktail Variations

As well as switching the Nutella for a nut-free chocolate spread, you could use a chocolate almond spread or similar for a different nut flavour. A different kind of flavoured vodka, such as vanilla vodka, would also be good.

As for the milk, use any kind you want. Coconut milk would give a tropical flavour to the cocktail, making it less Christmassy but if you’re a fan of coconut, why not?

Notes

Although you can bake your own loaf cake, one of the things that makes this cocktail so easy is being able to use a store-bought garnish and make it look homemade. I picked up a sliced chocolate loaf cake and used a 2¾-inch round cookie cutter to make cake circles that would fit nicely resting on the mouth of my glass. Then, I cut them into half-circles with a knife to make room for my straws. Using a piping bag and a star decorating tip (I used this one) makes it easy to add the chocolate-hazelnut spread to the top of the cake. Then, top it all off with holiday sprinkles like a mix of these here.

You can store the prepared Chocolate Christmas Cake Cocktail in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Make sure to give it a good shake before serving as it will begin to separate.
