However, it is particularly well-suited for students who are looking for an exciting and affordable adventure. With its rich history, stunning architecture, world-class museums, and vibrant nightlife, Barcelona is one of the best places for students to travel.

The city’s famous landmarks, beautiful beaches, and delicious local cuisine make it an attractive destination for travelers of all ages. Whether you’re interested in exploring the Gothic Quarter, visiting the Sagrada Familia, or simply relaxing on the beach, Barcelona is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a memorable travel experience.

1. Park Güell

Park Güell is one of the most well-known places in Barcelona, and for good reason. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, this park is a mashup of colorful mosaics, offbeat sculptures, and interesting architecture.

The best part? You can get a panoramic view of Barcelona from above the top of the hill in the park, meaning your Instagram feed will get a great mix of modernism and nature, all from the one place.

If you’re aiming for a less crowded experience, try going early in the morning, especially on weekends. It’s a popular spot, so you’ll need to book tickets in advance. But making the effort is worth it for the ‘Gram.

2. Inside Sagrada Família

Location: Carrer de Mallorca, 401, 08013

Everyone talks about Sagrada Família as being one of the most Instagrammable spots in Barcelona, but trust me, it’s different when you see it for yourself.

In particular, the interior is a work of art. The stained glass windows produce a kind of light show that changes throughout the day.

And the sculptures and carvings? They’re detailed in a way that will make any photo look like it’s out of a movie.

Insider Tip: If you’re up for it, there’s an option to climb one of the Sagrada Familia towers. It’s a bit of a hike, but the view of the city you get at the top is worth it.

Like Park Guell, the Sagrada Familia is extremely popular, so save yourself some time and hassle by booking your ticket in advance.

3. Outside Sagrada Família

The exterior of Sagrada Família is just as impressive as the interior, but in a different way. The façades tell different biblical stories, and each is detailed in its own unique style that’s completely different from each of the other sides of the basilica.

Insider Tip: If you want a photo that captures the whole building, go to the small park in front of the church.

Similarly, Plaça de Gaudí, located near the church, has a pond where you can get some interesting reflection shots. It’s a different angle and one that not everyone thinks to capture, helping your shot to really stand out.

4. Casa Batlló

Location: Passeig de Gràcia, 43, 08007

You’ve probably seen pictures of Casa Batlló’s vibrant façade, as it’s one of those Barcelona landmarks that seems to be tailor-made for Instagram. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, this building is more than just a photogenic backdrop; it’s like stepping into a whimsical world that defies architectural norms.

To get the best shot of the façade, cross the street and maybe even perch yourself on the metal frame of a bench across the way. This will give you a chance to fit the whole building into your frame.

Be patient, though; this street’s usually buzzing, so it might take a moment to get a shot without cars zipping by.

Inside, don’t miss the main living room’s windows or the white hallway leading to the storerooms.

Insider Tip: The real show-stealer is the rooftop terrace. It offers sweeping views of Barcelona, making for a multi-layered Insta shot. Just remember to book your tickets in advance, as this spot can get crowded.

5. Casa Milà (La Pedrera)

Location: Provença, 261-265, 08008

Another Gaudí masterpiece (and another one of Barcelona’s most famous pieces of architecture), Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is a must-see. Originally conceived as an apartment building, it’s since become a cultural landmark – and definitely one of the hottest Instagrammable spots in Barcelona.

The building itself is a mix of curvy lines and rough stone, making it a unique contrast to more traditional architecture around the city.

It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so as you can probably imagine, the photo ops are abundant here. The rooftop, with its peculiar chimneys and ventilation towers, offers a unique backdrop for photos, and the views aren’t too shabby either!

6. Barcelona Cathedral

If you’re into Gothic architecture, Barcelona Cathedral is a must-see. It’s an imposing structure in the middle of the Gothic Quarter, rich in history, and filled with intricate details.

It took over a century to build, and today, it houses a variety of artworks, including a significant 14th-century altarpiece by Catalan painter Jaume Huguet.

One of the standout features is the large rose window, which is one of the biggest in Europe. If you’re there during the daytime, the way the light filters through can make for a really interesting photo.

And, of course, the façade of Barcelona Cathedral also makes a grand backdrop for any shot.

Insider Tip: The real Instagram spot is the rooftop! You can buy a ticket to access it, and let me tell you, the view from up there is something to talk about. You get a bird’s-eye view of the old city, and it provides a unique angle of Barcelona Cathedral itself.

7. Pont del Bisbe

Location: Carrer del Bisbe, 1, 08002

The Pont del Bisbe, or Bishop’s Bridge, is tucked away in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter and it’s one of those places that make you go, “Is this for real?”

Its Neo-Gothic design harmonizes so well with its Medieval surroundings that you’d never guess it was actually only built in 1928.

The famous Pont Gòtic archway that connects the buildings on either side of the street has an almost mystical quality to it. You’ll soon see why it’s always named as one of the most Instagrammable spots in Barcelona.

Carrer del Bisbe, the street it overlooks, is quite narrow, so if you’re thinking of getting that crowd-free Instagram shot, your best bet is to visit early in the morning (or hone your Photoshop skills).

The Gothic Quarter itself is a maze of narrow lanes, mysterious corners, and hidden courtyards (as well as huge sights like Barcelona Cathedral). The bridge fits right into this aesthetic, like the cherry on top of an already beautiful sundae.

8. Bunkers del Carmel

Location: Carrer de Marià Labèrnia, s/n, 08032

When it comes to panoramic views, few spots in Barcelona rival the Bunkers del Carmel. This hilltop area was initially designed for anti-aircraft defenses during the Spanish Civil War but now serves as a stunning viewpoint.

The panoramic vistas include everything from the Sagrada Familia and Hotel W to Montjuic Castle and the distant Montserrat mountain range. Perfect for Instagram photos!

Getting there is part of the adventure. You can take the metro to either El Carmel or Alfons X and then either bus it up or, if you’re feeling spry, make the uphill trek on foot.

Either way, once you’re up there, the 360-degree views make the journey absolutely worth it.

You’ll find locals enjoying picnics here, especially during the golden hour. There’s one spot that many access by climbing over a fence. I always recommend that you respect fences and the safety of yourself and those around you.

Insider Tip: This spot is especially popular at sunset, so if you want some solitude with your city views, aim for a sunrise visit.

9. Palau de la Música Catalana (Concert Hall)

For a feast of color and culture, the Palau de la Música Catalana is a must-visit. Not only is it a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it’s also the only concert hall to have earned that distinction.

Designed by Domenech i Muntaner, this architectural jewel showcases Catalan modernism in all its glory.

The building is beautiful from an acoustic and visual perspective – but let’s talk about just what specific places inside of it make it one of the most Instagrammable spots in Barcelona.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the colorful balcony. Its vibrant tiles and intricate designs make it one of the most photographed spots in Barcelona. To avoid the crowds and capture its beauty, try booking the earliest tour available.

Inside, the concert hall is a marvel, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and an extraordinary stained-glass skylight that changes the atmosphere as the day progresses. The incredible details and motifs, reminiscent of natural elements, offer plenty of angles for those perfect shots.

10. La Boqueria

Step into La Boqueria, Barcelona’s oldest and most celebrated market, and you’ll think you’ve walked into a painter’s palette. Located on the bustling La Rambla, this market is an explosion of color and energy, boasting an array of fresh fruits, cured meats, and international foods.

Insider Tip: It may sound strange, but the smoothie stalls deserve a special mention, as their vibrant offerings are a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds as one of the most colorful spots in Barcelona.

If you’re looking to soak up the local atmosphere while grabbing a bite, the counter-seating eateries offer just that. Here, the rhythms of daily life unfold as you savor delectable local dishes.

La Boqueria isn’t just a place to shop. With its mix of tourists and locals, traditional stalls and modern eateries, it encapsulates the spirit of Barcelona.

And if you’re looking for the top Barcelona Instagram spots, there’s no shortage here. In a city replete with architectural wonders, Casa Vicens stands as a unique gem in Antoni Gaudi’s illustrious portfolio. Built between 1883 and 1885, it’s a striking example of Art Nouveau architecture.

The building is a fascinating tapestry of intricate brickwork, colorful tiles, and Moorish-inspired motifs.

Once a summer home for a wealthy family, it now opens its doors to the public as a museum, having earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And if you’re looking for that perfect photo op, the exterior tiles provide a vibrant, geometric background that screams “doing it for the ‘Gram.”

Unlike other more famous Gaudi sites, Casa Vicens offers a less crowded experience, allowing you to soak in its beauty more peacefully. Located in the Gràcia neighborhood, the house offers multiple stories and surprising details that make it an essential stop for anyone interested in architecture or design.

12. Parc de la Ciutadella

Location: Passeig de Picasso, 21, 08003

Sometimes you just crave green spaces and tranquil moments, and Parc de la Ciutadella delivers just that – plus a whole lot more. This lush oasis in the heart of Barcelona is more than just a park; it’s a great example of the city’s diverse offerings.

With its expansive lawns, exotic plant life, cascading waterfall, and serene lake, this park is a haven for both nature enthusiasts and casual strollers.

Let’s talk about the Cascada Monumental: a fountain in the middle of Parc de la Ciutadella that’s anything but ordinary. Loosely modeled on Rome’s Trevi Fountain, it’s a grand spectacle with intricate sculptures, emerald pools, and an aesthetic that blends the natural and the man-made.

And fun fact? Gaudi, still a student at the time, was involved in designing its water tank and hydraulics!

For those looking for the best photo spots in Barcelona, this place offers unlimited potential – whether it’s the tranquil scenes by the lake, the intricate designs of the Cascada Monumental, or the people-watching opportunities around the park.

So if you’re looking to breathe in some fresh air, engage in some outdoor activities, or just find the perfect backdrop for your next profile pic, Parc de la Ciutadella has you covered.

When you think of Barcelona, cacti may not be the first thing that springs to mind. But prepare to be amazed as you step into Jardins Mossen Costa i Llobera, a botanical oasis boasting over 800 types of cacti.

Perched atop Montjuïc Hill, the gardens offer a striking contrast to the city’s bustling streets, providing not just botanical wonders but also panoramic views of the city and the azure Mediterranean Sea beyond.

Visitors often refer to this garden as one of Barcelona’s best-kept secrets—and for good reason. Aside from its obvious allure for cactus aficionados, it offers Instagrammers the perfect combination of natural texture and sweeping vistas.

After all, the succulents and cacti, artfully arranged against the backdrop of the city, offer a truly unique photo opportunity.

This isn’t your typical garden visit. Whether you’re looking for horticultural inspiration or just a peaceful spot with a fantastic view, Jardins Mossen Costa i Llobera ticks all the boxes.

14. The Plant Wall, Carrer de l’Allada-Vermell

Location: Carrer de l’Allada-Vermell 12, 08003

Hidden away in the heart of Barcelona’s El Born neighborhood, Carrer de l’Allada-Vermell is a pedestrian street that’s managed to strike a perfect balance between urban living and natural charm. You’ll find cool cafes, eateries, and a canopy of trees.

But what truly distinguishes this street is building number 12, where a vertical garden graces the facade.

In a city dotted with architectural wonders, this “plant wall” stands as a living testament to Barcelona’s commitment to green urbanism. It’s quickly become one of the best Instagrammable spots in Barcelona, as the lush foliage makes for an eye-catching and unique backdrop for photos.

If you’re someone who loves the concept of urban jungles, then this spot is a must-see for you. You are sure to get some Instagram-worthy photos here! Looking at the number of photos on the ‘Gram, it is one of the most trendy lesser-known Barcelona instagram spots.

That said, it’s not just about the photos; this space is an absolute vibe, an atmosphere that serves as a refreshing break from the urban hustle. This is why it’s worth taking the time to sit in one of the nearby cafes (the El Born neighborhood is full of some of the best ones in the city) and enjoy the view over a cup of coffee.

15. Arc de Triomf

Location: Passeig de Lluís Companys, 08003

Yes, Barcelona has its own Arc de Triomf – and it’s every bit as Instagrammable as its Parisian counterpart, albeit distinctly different. Designed by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas, the monument was initially constructed as the gateway to the 1888 Barcelona World Fair.

Unlike the marble triumphal arches that punctuate European capitals, this one is constructed from red brick, giving it a warm, inviting feel.

The arch is framed by the wide road of Passeig de Sant Joan on one side and a manicured park on the other, offering numerous angles for that perfect shot.

Whether you’re standing close to capture its intricate carvings or far away to get the full arch in your frame, you’re guaranteed a photo that captures its grandeur.

This arch is more than just an aesthetic pleasure; it serves as a symbol of Barcelona’s innovative spirit and cultural richness. So snap away, but also take a moment to soak in its history and grandeur at this Barcelona photo spot.

16. Hospital de Sant Pau

If you think the concept of a hospital being an Instagram-worthy spot is a bit odd, you haven’t been to Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona yet.

A UNESCO World Heritage site along with the Palau de la Musica Catalana, this complex is a feast for the eyes and the lens, thanks to its remarkable Catalan Modernism architectural style.

Fear not, though – this isn’t a working hospital anymore. Since 2009, it’s transformed into a museum and cultural center, making it a dual-purpose destination: one part architectural spectacle, one part educational journey into Catalan history.

Designed by the renowned architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the complex is composed of colorful buildings set around a lush central garden, each one a tapestry of Art Nouveau elements inspired by natural motifs. This is one of those Instagram photo spots you won’t want to miss.

Each corner of this hospital-turned-cultural-haven offers a unique backdrop for your Instagram feed, from intricate mosaics to elegantly crafted facades. It’s a magnet not only for Instagrammers but also for architecture enthusiasts who are enthralled by its design intricacies.

Taking a more traditional approach to the concept of a park, Parc de Montjuïc offers extensive green spaces, perfect for casual strolls or intensive nature photography. However, don’t let its lush landscapes fool you – the park is also home to several important landmarks, like the Olympic Stadium.

Whether you’re lounging on the vast lawns, exploring the sculpted gardens, or standing in awe at the base of one of its monumental structures, you’ll find yourself reaching for your camera more often than you think.

The park beautifully merges natural beauty with historical importance, offering a different layer of charm than its more famous counterparts like Parc de la Ciutadella.

A walk through Parc de Montjuïc isn’t just a stroll. Instead, it’s one of the more relaxing spots in Barcelona, showing off the city’s ability to mix culture and tranquility and giving your Instagram feed that refined yet relaxed look. If you’re searching for that perfect shot to induce travel envy among your friends, a pic from Parc de Montjuïc might just do the trick.

Sometimes, the most unexpected spots offer the best photo opportunities, and Carrer del Dr. Joaquim Pou is a testament to that. Tucked away discreetly in one of Barcelona’s labyrinthine streets, this location gives you a great glimpse of the Barcelona Cathedral, framed naturally by the surrounding buildings.

What makes this street so Instagrammable is the element of surprise and intrigue. The way the cathedral is framed creates a naturally dramatic and evocative shot, with the only visible parts of Barcelona Cathedral being its spires and roofs, peeking out above the horizon.

This location is a dream come true for photographers who love playing with perspectives, lines, and framing. The way the buildings narrow towards Barcelona Cathedral gives an almost tunnel-like focus to your photos, making them stand out in a sea of cityscape shots.

Instagrammable Places in Barcelona

In the end, what makes Barcelona a true Instagrammer’s paradise isn’t just its iconic landmarks, but the city’s incredible ability to blend the old with the new and the natural with the man-made.
