The sweetest young man ever came into my life a little over two years ago now. And it was no doubt, love at first sight. This is when I got my handsome Brittany named Beau and I can’t imagine my life without him!
Love at First Sight with my Dog
He gives me more love than I can imagine receiving from anyone else. Ya, I know…he’s a dog but he is pretty much the perfect match for me and here are some reasons why Beau is the love of my life:
He is Excited to See Me
He is always excited to see me and spend time with me. He really doesn’t care what we do together…as long as we are together. In Beau’s world we would never spend a minute apart. I love his attention and attentiveness.
Doesn’t Care What we Watch
Beau lets me pick what we watch every single time! He doesn’t judge that I watch 50 First Dates too much or re-watch How I Met Your Mother again and again. What can I say? He has good taste. Another reason why it was love at first sight with my dog.
I Can Read Him
There is no trouble reading him. I can tell how much he loves me by his enthusiastic kisses and wagging tail. There are no mixed signals from him. Beau is so clear in his love for me and is always eager to prove it. My dog never leaves me wondering if I can do more for him, because in his eyes, just being me is more than enough for him.
He Doesn’t Judge Me
Beau doesn’t judge that I haven’t showered and, in fact, I think he likes me better that way. My dog doesn’t care that I am repeating the outfit that I wore yesterday or that I seem to live in my pajamas. Beau probably loves it because that’s how he lives his life, too!
Puts Up With Me
Beau puts up with me and I can count on him to ignore the fact that I may be in a crappy mood. I adore the fact that he loves me the same when I am grumpy and when I am happy. He understands that life has its ups and downs. Yet, it is almost as if he knows exactly how to make the downs a little less dull and the ups way brighter.
He Isn’t Looking for Perfection
Beau isn’t looking for perfection. My sweet dog makes me laugh a lot. I think he really performs just for me. Why else would he do the silly things that he does?!?
His Zeal for Life
His zeal for life is contagious and he gets me outside even on the rainiest of days. (I love the photo above by The Dogist)
Beau is a morning person…just like me. #Blessed
His Paw-sitive Attitude
He is always reminding me that every day is a fresh start. With Beau it is like every car ride or walk is a new and exciting experience. We could all use a bit more of Beau’s attitude in our life. To live in the moment, love harder every day, and act as if nothing could go wrong. I admire this amazing boy’s personality.
Doesn’t Fee Smothered
Lastly, Beau takes whatever love I give him and doesn’t feel smothered. He loves me unconditionally 365 days a year. What more could I ask for? Can I say it again…it was love at first sight with my dog.
I am His World + He is Mine
Having a dog in your life isn’t just you being a master over him, you are his world. You are everything. The hand that feeds him, loves him, protects him. He sees you as this being that placed the stars in the sky. Who gives him everything in the world and more than he could ever imagine.
But there is one thing he doesn’t fully comprehend.
He is Just What I Need
That with him in your life, he is that and so much more to you. He is a security blanket, your live-in therapist, and the reason behind your happiness. He can be naughty at times, but so can you by paying more attention to your phone than him. But, just like you forgive him for tearing up that box of tissues, he is more than willing to instantly forgive you for all that screen-time the moment you start loving on him.
He is Special
Dogs are something so special to us humans. We are their whole world and they quickly melt into being ours. There is nothing either of us wouldn’t do for the other. They are family. They are our safety net. They don’t ever shame us or gossip about us. They trust us with their whole hearts and we can’t help but to do the same.
Having Beau has completely changed my life for the better. My days are brighter, life has a lot more laughter, and my heart is so full with love for this smiling little dude.
I know for certain why dogs are called “man’s best friend”. That is because my Beau is mine. It really was love at first sight with my dog Beau.
