Ready for a summer adventure like no other? Of course we are! Buckle up and join me as I soar through the skies and glide through the treetops in Whistler, British Columbia. This mountain top paradise has it all – from heart-pumping zip lining to breathtaking helicopter rides, and I’ve got all the details to share with you. So sit back, relax, and let’s get ready to take on a summertime getaway to Whistler!
This is all about a recent road trip to Whistler that I took with Ford Canada to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday!
I always love any chance to get away, so when I was asked to go on a road trip to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday (which is coming up on July 1st I could not say no.
We were equipped with a new Ford Escape for the week. It is a great vehicle to take on a road trip. I drove it when I was in Montreal at a Ford event and it was my favourite out of all the vehicles I drove.
Although it was summer, it was still pretty chilly in Whistler…at least for me! The weather ended up being beautiful while we were there even though the drive from Vancouver was very rainy.
Whistler Ziplining
When we arrived at Whistler, we went ziplining with Ziptrek EcoTours. On the Whistler zip line tour that we went on there were 5 ziplines. The first one we got to do side-by-side and then all the others were single ziplines. Some were a lot faster than others. I was a little hesitant, even though I had been ziplining before, because I am not super fond of heights.
We drove the Ford Escape, which I loved…and I wished that I could have brought it home with me. I love that it has a full sun roof (to see the beautiful blue sky), heated seats, very useful back-up camera and that my phone connects so easily.
I also love that it has a lot of storage room in the back. It would be the perfect vehicle to get me out and about on my adventures and day to day activities.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler
We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for the night which is an amazing hotel. Nestled in the heart of the stunning Whistler mountains, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a true gem. It is always a treat to stay there – no matter what time of the year you visit the area. From its luxurious rooms to its world-class dining and spa, this hotel is the epitome of mountain elegance. Yup, it doesn’t get better than this if you ask me. Whether you’re looking for an adventurous summer getaway or a cozy winter retreat, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has everything you need to make your trip unforgettable.
After zipling we went to the pool at the Fairmont, which is very nice! I could have stayed there all night. That evening we went to the Whistler Brewing Company for dinner. I highly recommend that you try the Grapefruit Ale. It is so good!

Whistler Helicopter Ride Adventure
Take your summer adventures to new heights with Blackcomb Helicopter Tours in Whistler! Soar above the epic mountains and glaciers in a helicopter, and get ready for breathtaking views like you’ve never seen before. There are a variety of tour options to choose from, so you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy. Why settle for a regular hike when you can soar with in a helicopter?
We went on a doors off helicopter ride that was arranged in advance with Blackcomb Helicopters. No everyone wants the doors off but it is my favourite way to fly.
Our heli ride was a half hour and we flew over the village area and around the mountains. It was a bit cold with the doors off, but definitely very exciting. Check out the video above!
The birds eye views from the sky were fabulous and I would definitely recommend it.
Thanks to Joel Schat for the photos and coming with me!
Even though the drive from Vancouver to Whistler is only a few hours, there are a lot of stops that you can make along the way. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Sea to Sky Highway and soak in the breathtaking views from the Tantalus Lookout! Believe me, it is really worth the stop.
This British Columbia hidden gem offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and sparkling waters, making it the perfect pitstop on your next Whistler road trip. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the Tantalus Lookout is a must visit destination.
If you ever get to Whistler, I hope you get a chance to do some of these fun activities.

What an exciting trip! I’m not overly fond of heights either and I don’t know if I could do the no-door heli ride. It looks scary to me, but the scenery from up there sure is beautiful. The zip-lining looks like fun too.
It sounds like you did a ton of fun stuff on your trip! I have heard of whistler, but never been there! Maybe someday….
