Crockpot Steak Bites Ingredients
A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
Steak: Chuck or sirloin steak holds up well and turns tender in the slow cooker. Choose well-marbled steak for the tenderest bites. You could use stew meat if that’s what you have on hand but the cooking time may be longer.
Garlic: Adds warm savory flavor that suits slow cooked beef. Add garlic powder as well as fresh garlic for a stronger flavor. A pinch of onion powder is good too for savory punch.
Salt and pepper: To season the steak before the sear.
Smoked paprika: Brings gentle smokiness and adds warm color.
Butter: Enriches the sauce and brings that garlic butter vibe. Salted or unsalted butter works.
Italian seasoning: Gives herby notes that round out the sauce.
Soy sauce: Adds saltiness and umami depth to the cooking liquid.
Worcestershire sauce: Layers in tangy savory flavor.
Oil: Helps the steak brown in the skillet for extra flavor. You can use avocado oil instead of olive oil or any cooking oil you prefer.
Beef broth: Becomes the base for the gravy style sauce.
Cornstarch slurry: Thickens the liquid into a coating sauce.
Fresh parsley: Fresh herbs brighten the finished dish right before serving.

Add liquids: Pour in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth and give everything a gentle stir.
Slow cook: Cover and cook until the steak bites are tender and the flavors taste rich.
Thicken the sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and let the liquid turn into a glossy gravy style sauce.
Finish and garnish: Let the steak rest briefly, then sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving your tender steak bites with your preferred sides.

Substitutions and Variations
Steak choices: Use sirloin for leaner bites or chuck roast for a richer result. You can use frozen steak as long as you thaw it in the refrigerator overnight first.
Broth tweak: Use low sodium beef broth and adjust seasoning to taste at the end.
Soy swap: Tamari or coconut aminos can stand in for soy sauce if you prefer.
Gluten-free variation: Use gluten-free tamari instead of soy sauce, choose a gluten-free Worcestershire sauce and confirm the broth is also gluten-free.
Dairy-free variation: Skip the butter and add extra olive oil or a dairy-free butter alternative for the same richness.
A touch of wine: Swap half the beef broth for red wine.
Sauce shortcut: You could use a package of au jus gravy mix but the homemade sauce is so much better.
Add vegetables: Mushrooms, onions or pearl onions cook beautifully with the steak.
Heat level: Add crushed red pepper flakes for a gentle kick.

Serving Suggestions
With potatoes: Enjoy mashed red skin potatoes or garlic mashed potatoes with your tender steak bites. Garlic butter fondant potatoes would also be good.
Other carb options: Slow cooker polenta is an absolutely delicious side or you could serve truffle polenta fries, egg noodles or pasta.
With veggies: Roasted artichokes, roasted Brussels sprouts and roasted rainbow carrots are all good choices, or you could enjoy one of these Italian salad recipes with your tender steak bites.

How to Store
Store: Refrigerate steak bites with their sauce in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freeze: Freeze cooled steak bites and sauce in a freezer safe container for up to 2 months.
Thaw: Thaw in the refrigerator until fully defrosted.
Reheat: Warm gently on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth if the sauce has thickened.

Top Tips
Dry the steak well: Patting the meat dry helps it brown instead of steam.
Avoid crowding the pan: Brown the steak in batches so each piece gets good color.
Taste at the end: Adjust salt once the sauce has reduced and concentrated.
Watch the thickness: Add a little more broth if the gravy thickens too much.

Crockpot Steak Bites FAQs
Yes. High works, but low tends to give a more tender texture, so use it when you have time.
They probably need more time. Tough cuts soften as the collagen breaks down, so keep cooking until the pieces are tender.
You can, but searing gives deeper flavor and more color, so it’s worth the extra few minutes.
