This Valentine’s Day homemade treat box is just the thing if you don’t know what to make for Valentine’s Day and you want some easy recipes to mix and match. A Valentine’s sweets gift box makes a wonderful and thoughtful gift since it’s more personalized than anything from the store. Show your favourite someone how much you are thinking of them with a box of these homemade Valentine’s treats.
What’s in There?
I chose to make heart shaped lollipops, Strawberry Cream Rice Krispie treats and s’more brownie truffles because this trio of homemade Valentine’s treats look cute together and offer a variety of colours, textures and flavours.
Heart Shaped Chocolate Valentine Lollipop Treats
The lollipops are made with ingredients like white chocolate, almond bark and melting candies. If you already have a chocolate pop mold you will find these a breeze to prepare. In fact, even if you’ve never tried making your own popsicles or lollipops before you will find these very easy. And of course once you know how to make them, you’ll want to try all kinds of new varieties.
I love the fact you can get creative with these homemade sweets, choosing from any kind of chocolate and melting candies as well as any colours and designs. If you like to be creative in the kitchen, I’d definitely recommend adding these cute lollipops to your Valentine’s Day homemade treat box.
Strawberry Cream Rice Krispies
As for the Rice Krispie treats, these are made with puffed rice cereal as well as marshmallows and strawberries, as well as some white chocolate bark (you’ll have some of that left from the Valentine lollipops!)
Store-bought Rice Krispie treats are good but the homemade version is even better and you can enjoy the fresh flavour of your efforts. I love the marshmallows in these – they’re perfectly sweet without being overly sweet.
Valentine S’mores Brownie Bite Truffles
Finally you have the truffles in there and those are made with brownies. Chocolate truffles can be expensive and the store-bought ones aren’t always that great, so I’d absolutely recommend making these. They’re just so easy!
Tips for Making Your Valentine Treat Box
Not only can you get creative designing the candies and easy recipes for this special occasion, but you can also get creative with the presentation.
Consider anything from a wooden box such as this one to a simple basket to hold the homemade Valentine’s treats. You can also enclose the whole thing with cellophane if you want and maybe also include some ribbons in Valentine’s colours. Pink, red and white tend to be typical colours for Valentine’s gifts or perhaps you have your own favourites.
So who are you going to make a Valentine’s sweets gift box for? Although it’s a nice idea for your loved one, it’s also a fun project to make with the kids for their teachers, to make for your parents, or even for your neighbours or coworkers.
Why not put a day aside so you can rustle up a big batch of each of the treats? They’re all easy recipes and don’t take that long to prepare.
Other Tempting and Tasty Treat Ideas
Also if you want to make other treats, by all means go ahead! Part of the fun of Valentine’s Day is deciding what homemade Valentine’s treats you’re going to make.
There are plenty of other easy recipes and simple ideas to choose from whether you want to include more items in your Valentine’s sweets gift box or you want to swap out one of my other suggestions. Any kind of cookies, muffins, bars, or other indulgent treats of the season would be great in there as well.
You can also put some store-bought items in there if it’s for a gift – anything goes so use your imagination! Maybe you are up for trying one or two different Valentine’s Day recipe but you also want to pop some other things in there which is of course fine.
Non-food items with some kind of Valentine’s Day reference such as pink or red fluffy socks, cute candles, a romantic glass or mug, would also be a good fit. This will make it more of a gift hamper than a tray of Valentine’s candies. You can include as much or as little as you want in there, having fun while you do it!
Whatever you choose to include in your Valentine’s Day homemade treat box and whatever type of box or basket you pick out for it, I bet the homemade Valentine’s treats will impress the lucky recipient! So have fun making your Valentine treat box. Make some extras too so you can enjoy sampling all the Valentine’s Day homemade treat box delights!
