Honey and Mustard Pork Chops Ingredients

A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Pork chops: You will need boneless pork chops which are thick-cut. This ensures they won’t cook too fast or come out not juicy enough. I usually use thick cuts when making boneless pork chops in the air fryer.
Mustard: Wholegrain mustard and yellow mustard add heat and a little spice.
Ground paprika: Adds flavor to the dish.
Garlic: Always a winning ingredient in savory chicken recipes. Fresh is best.
Honey: For sweetness. You can use any kind of honey here.
Lemon juice: Adds a citrusy tang to the flavor.

How to Make Honey Mustard Pork Chops

For more detailed instructions with weights and measurements, jump to the printable recipe card.

Bring the pork to room temperature: The first step in this easy pork chops recipe is to take the meat out of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to do this! Give the pork about 15 minutes to come to room temperature.

I like to give it 30 minutes just to ensure it’s not too cold. Letting it warm up a little means a juicier result, since it won’t be going from cold to heat which can affect the texture.
Season and cook the chops: Rub paprika, salt and pepper into the pork on both sides and then cook for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Bear in mind if your pork chops aren’t that thick, they might cook faster. In that case, check them sooner.
Prepare the sauce: While you’re cooking the boneless pork chops in the air fryer, make the sauce. Whisk the ingredients together and warm it in a pan for 5 minutes. Don’t let it boil – just keep the honey mustard sauce for pork chops at a low simmer and stir often.
Garnish and serve: Let the pork rest for 5 minutes after cooking and then serve it with the honey mustard sauce. I like to sprinkle some parsley on top before serving. It adds color to this air fried pork recipe and the flavor works too.

Substitutions and Variations

Pork chops: You can use another cut of pork instead or even a different meat or poultry. The cooking times might differ.
Mustard: I like to combine yellow mustard with stone-ground mustard or wholegrain mustard. You can use your favorite kind.
Honey: Agave syrup or maple syrup would work instead.
Parsley: Use a different herb for your garnish, perhaps rosemary or oregano.

Serving Suggestions

Side Dishes: Green bean bundles or roasted broccoli would work, or how about steamed broccoli or broccolini? Shaved Brussels sprout slaw is good if you want to go the salad route or you could toss your preferred leaves with a simple vinaigrette, adding some candied pecans too. A garden veggie macaroni salad would also be a tasty option.
Dessert: After your meal, treat yourself to some Cheesecake cookies.

How to Store Honey Mustard Pork Chops

Store: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 3 days.
Freeze: Freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag or sealed container for up to 3 months.
Thaw: Defrost it overnight in the refrigerator.
Reheat: You can warm it back up in the oven.

Top Tips

Use thick pork chops: These are harder to accidentally overcook and are more juicy and succulent.
Bring them to room temperature: This makes them juicier. Cold meat will seize up when brought into contact with the heat and that makes it tougher.
Let them rest afterwards: Give them at least 5 minutes afterwards – another way to maximize how juicy they come out!

Air Fryer Pork Chops FAQs

What should I look for when buying pork chops?

Just as you’d compare steaks before making a choice, you should also compare pork chops. After all, no two chops are exactly the same. This cut of meat comes from the loin which runs from the shoulder to hip. Pork chops tend to be mild-tasting and lean. The heat comes from all around when using an air fryer, as opposed from just underneath if you’re pan frying the meat. So, using a nice, thick cut ensures your air fried pork recipe cooks perfectly without drying out. Choose chops which have some marbling and are a pink-red color. Don’t buy anything pale or with dark spots on.

How long does fresh pork keep?

If you are buying your meat ahead, it will keep for 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator before cooking. You can also freeze uncooked pork chops for up to 6 months. Since you’re using thick pork chops for this air fried pork recipe, give them plenty of thawing time if frozen. They can take up to 14 hours to fully thaw in the refrigerator so take them out the night before.

What’s the history of honey and mustard together?

Who first came up with the idea of combining honey and mustard? Well it actually dates back more than you might think! In fact the ancient Romans and Egyptians are believed to have used the combo in the 4th or 5th century AD! There is a sauce recipe in the ancient ‘De Re Coquinaria’ cookbook calling for honey and mustard seeds along with dill, black pepper, and other herbs and spices. This shows just how long this amazing combination of ingredients has been around! In this recipe if you don’t want to use yellow mustard, Dijon mustard would be a great substitute. I also love honey mustard salad dressing and that’s believed to date back to the 1970s or 1980s. Dan Ryan, a chef from Southern California, apparently came up with this magical mixture, at least according to Ken Hulick, his former son-in-law.

A platter features four grilled pork chops, elegantly garnished with parsley. A hand hovers above, gracefully drizzling a rich mustard sauce. Inspired by the simplicity of a 30-minute meal, this dish offers the perfect blend of flavor and convenience.

The honey mustard on these is SO good. I used Koops’ brand and, honestly, I wish I would have tripled the batch because I want it on everything. My family LOVED the pork chops. Can’t wait to make this again.

    1. I did steamed broccoli and baby potatoes, but mashed potatoes and a veggie like green beans would be good. If you are looking for something quick, I would do a sliced tomato topped with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
