More meaty dishes you might like to make include Instant Pot pork chops, beef bulgogi bowls and slow cooker Hawaiian ribs.
You will need boneless pork chops which are thick-cut, to make honey mustard pork. This ensures they won’t cook too fast or come out not juicy enough. I usually use thick cuts when making boneless pork chops in the air fryer.
The heat comes from all around when using an air fryer, as opposed from just underneath if you’re pan frying the meat. So using a nice, thick cut ensures your air fried pork recipe cooks perfectly without drying out.
Air Fryer Honey Mustard Pork Chops Ingredients
Boneless pork chops in the air fryer have a neutral flavour, which is why I love to make a piquant sauce to go with them. This honey mustard sauce for pork chops is just perfect. This boneless chops recipe is perfect for busy weeknights. The whole family will love this pork chop dinner.
Whole grain mustard, yellow mustard, paprika, garlic, honey, mayo, lemon, and garlic pair with oil and some salt and pepper are the honey mustard sauce ingredients. I’m sure you already have most (or all!) of those ingredients to hand already, since they are all pretty much kitchen staples.
How to Make this 30 Minute Meal
The first step in this easy pork chops recipe is to take the meat out of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to do this! Give the pork about 15 minutes to come to room temperature.
I like to give it 30 minutes just to ensure it’s not too cold. Letting it warm up a little means a juicier result, since it won’t be going from cold to heat which can affect the texture.
Rub paprika, salt and pepper into the pork on both sides then cook them for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Bear in mind if your pork chops aren’t that thick, they might cook faster. In that case, check them sooner.
While you’re cooking the boneless pork chops in the air fryer, make the sauce. Whisk the ingredients together and warm it in a pan for 5 minutes. Don’t let it boil – just keep the honey mustard sauce for pork chops at a low simmer and stir often.
Let the pork rest for 5 minutes after cooking then serve with the honey mustard sauce. I like to sprinkle some parsley on top before serving. It adds colour to this air fried pork recipe and the flavour works too.
Side Dish Options for Honey Mustard Pork
Take your pick from all your favourite sides. I find anything goes with air fryer honey mustard pork chops. Since the honey mustard sauce for pork chops is quite flavourful though, you might like to pick neutral sides. Something plain such as boiled white rice or mashed potatoes would work.
Then you can add your favourite steamed green vegetable, Green Bean Bundles or roasted broccoli. How about steamed broccoli or broccolini? Brussels sprouts would also work, or perhaps you’re more of a zucchini fan. A Shaved Brussels Sprout Slaw if you want to go the salad route or instead, toss your preferred leaves with a simple vinaigrette. You might like to add some chopped nuts too. A Garden Veggie Macaroni Salad would also be a tasty option.
While the pork is cooking in the air fryer and the sauce is simmering on the stove, you can prepare your chosen side(s).
How to Choose the Best Pork Chops
Just as you’d compare steaks before making a choice, you should also compare pork chops. After all, no two chops are exactly the same. This cut of meat comes from the loin which runs from the shoulder to hip. Pork chops tend to be mild-tasting and lean.
For the best honey mustard air fryer pork chops result, choose chops which have some marbling and are a pink-red colour. Don’t buy anything pale or with dark spots on. If you are buying your meat ahead, it will keep for 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator before cooking. You can also freeze pork chops for up to 6 months.
Since you’re using thick pork chops for this air fried pork recipe, give them plenty of thawing time if frozen. They can take up to 14 hours to fully thaw in the refrigerator so take them out the night before.
History of the Honey Mustard Combo
You might be wondering about the history behind air fryer honey mustard pork chops. Who first came up with the idea of combining honey and mustard? Well it actually dates back more than you might think! In fact the ancient Romans and Egyptians are believed to have used the combo in the 4th or 5th century AD!
There is a sauce recipe in the ancient ‘De Re Coquinaria’ cookbook calling for honey and mustard seeds along with dill, black pepper, and other herbs and spices. This shows just how long this amazing combination of ingredients has been around! In this recipe if you don’t want to use yellow mustard, Dijon mustard would be a great substitute.
Air fryers haven’t been around that long, of course, but they’re perfect for rustling up this 30 minute meal. So when you are enjoying your air fried pork recipe, think about this history of honey mustard and how long this classic mixture has been enjoyed.
I also love honey mustard salad dressing and that’s believed to date back to the 1970s or 1980s. Dan Ryan, a chef from Southern California, apparently came up with this magical mixture, at least according to Ken Hulick, his former son-in-law.
I loved this air fryer honey mustard pork chops so much, I am definitely going to make it regularly. It’s just so easy and totally delicious! Another tasty pork recipe for your air fryer is this air fryer pork loin.

I love this way of making pork chops. I had squash and mushrooms on the side and some hash browns.
The meat came out so juicy inside after air frying and the honey mustard sauce was the perfect topping. We loved it!
I served these with mashed potatoes and my family loved them! It was quick to make and yummy to eat. It was also cool to learn about where honey mustard originated from!
Not only did these turn out really tasty, but they were quick and looked beautiful, to boot!
The honey mustard sauce on this is delicious! It’s flavorful and creamy. I love that it came together in just 30 minutes too.
The honey mustard on these is SO good. I used Koops’ brand and, honestly, I wish I would have tripled the batch because I want it on everything. My family LOVED the pork chops. Can’t wait to make this again.
Made these and loved them. YUM!
What sides do you recommend to go with these good lookin’ chops?
I did steamed broccoli and baby potatoes, but mashed potatoes and a veggie like green beans would be good. If you are looking for something quick, I would do a sliced tomato topped with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
This looks delicious! I love my air fryer.
