Ingredients for Disneyland Sugar Cookies

Here is what you need to make Mickey Mouse sugar cookies. Sugar, flour, butter, egg, and baking powder go into the dough, along with sprinkles. The butter should be at room temperature before you start so it’s easier to combine with the other ingredients. I expect you have all these ingredients at home already, including the sprinkles!

Ingredients for Funfetti Dunkaroo Dip

These Disney cookies go so well with the cream cheese sprinkle dip. The dip includes cream cheese, vanilla, butter, milk, and icing sugar. Icing sugar is also called powdered sugar. The sugar cookies and cream cheese dip go beautifully together. However, you can serve one without the other. The cookies are good by themselves. The dip is also great for other cookies or for dipping fruit.

So Easy to Make!

Like many other cookie recipes, the dough is made by combining two mixtures. First you have a flour and baking powder mixture. Then there is also a butter, sugar and egg mixture.

The two combine to make your dough. You then need to refrigerate the Disney cookies dough for an hour or so. The reason for this is so the fats firm up and the cookies don’t spread so much during baking. You want that crisp, clean Mickey Mouse shape to hold while they bake. You can find several brands of Disney cookie cutters online.

After you cook the cookies and bake them in the oven, they can cool while you prepare the Funfetti Dunkaroo dip. Once the butter and cream cheese are well combined, you can mix in the icing sugar and vanilla. Mix in the milk a little at a time. You might not need all of it. Just add some at a time until the Mickey Mouse sprinkle dip is the perfect consistency.

Another name for Funfetti Dunkaroo dip is cake batter dip. It tastes like the Dunkaroo snacks kids love and is quick and easy to put together. It’s a nice dip for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion really. It’s also perfect with Mickey Mouse sugar cookies.

Some recipes use Funfetti cake mix and yogurt for it, but I like to use cream cheese as the base. It’s delicious with graham crackers, pretzels, animal crackers, teddy grahams, Nilla wafers, apple wedges, or your favourite cookies.

What Kind of Sprinkles to Use for Sugar Cookies

Now you know how to make this Disney sugar cookie recipe with cream cheese dip, you’ll want some tips! First, what kind of sprinkles should you use? I used little round multi-colored ones also known as nonpareils. But there are lots of types of sprinkles to choose from! They are colorful, fun and not just for kids! Sprinkles add color and crunch to all kinds of sweet recipes.

You can get jimmies which are rod-shaped sprinkles. They’re known as rainbow sprinkles. These are good because the colour doesn’t ‘bleed’ as much in baked goods.

Quins are wide and flat. Don’t use those in baking because they melt and spread too much. Dragees or sugar pearls are jumbo sized round sprinkles which are best for garnishing cupcakes and the like. Coarse sugar or sanding sugar and nice for decorating cookies and cakes as well as adding sparkle. That isn’t the right choice for Mickey Mouse sugar cookies though.

For these Disney cookies I’d recommend nonpareils or jimmies. Either of those will add wonderful flavour to the sugar cookies and cream cheese dip too. I love the crunch they offer in the dip!

How to Serve These Mickey Mouse Sugar Cookies

I think these Disney themed cookies would be awesome for a kids’ birthday party. Baby showers or Valentine’s Day would also be great for something this cute! Really….any day for a Disney fan! Maybe serve with these Mickey Mouse cinnamon rolls!

You can make the cookies and dip ahead too. Just keep the cookies in an airtight container and the dip in a separate airtight container. The cookies are fine at room temperature but keep the dip in the refrigerator since it has dairy in it.

Recipe is incomplete – none of the directions mention when to add the sprinkles, the dip ingredients list doesn’t mention the need for sprinkles. The blog post doesn’t either.

  2. Oh my goodness, this recipe looks like it would taste so, so good! I’ll have to give it a try myself.
