Starbucks Iced Lavender Matcha Latte Ingredients

A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Lavender syrup: You can use store bought or make your own (I like to make my own!)
Matcha: Japanese green tea. I used Nami matcha.
Water: Filtered water is the purest, cleanest-tasting choice.
Oat milk: Or your preferred type of milk.

Assorted ingredients on a table include sugar, a glass of water, a pitcher of cream, a spoon of matcha powder for that perfect iced lavender matcha latte, a bowl of lavender, a bamboo whisk, and a ceramic dish.

Substitutions and Variations

Oat milk: Feel free to use another type of milk, dairy or nondairy.
Matcha: You can use any kind but I recommend a high quality matcha, such as Nami which is made with the first harvest of tea leaves in Japan.
Lavender syrup: You can use another flavored syrup if you prefer, such as vanilla or even a plain simple syrup.
Make it sweeter: You can add some sugar to the matcha mixture if you like, although the lavender foam is also sweetened.

Serving Suggestions

With a sweet treat: Enjoy your iced matcha latte with blueberry muffins, homemade buckeyes or carrot cake cookies.
With a savory snack:
It would also pair with something savory, perhaps roasted party nuts or Starbucks copycat egg bites.

How to Store Iced Matcha Latte

Store: This drink is best served immediately but if you have some over, keep it in the refrigerator without adding the ice. Drink it within 24 hours for the freshest flavor.
Freeze: I don’t recommend that you freeze it.

Top Tips

Water temperature: Hot water at 140°F works best. Too cool and it won’t dissolve the matcha, too hot and it will negatively affect the matcha taste.
Use a bamboo whisk: I prefer a bamboo whisk over a plastic whisk for matcha. It helps mix the matcha better and won’t leave you with a grainy texture.
Use high quality matcha: For a great tasting matcha latte, it’s important to use a high-quality matcha. You can find many great high-quality ceremonial matcha powders out there.

What is matcha exactly?

It’s a powdered form of green tea that comes from shade-grown tea leaves which are dried, steamed and then finely ground. Matcha is Japanese but the ingredient has its roots in China.

Why is oat milk used in this recipe?

The mild flavor and smooth, creamy texture of oat milk make it ideal for recipes like this. It’s also really great for frothing.
