Substitutions and Variations

Different cookies: You can use any kind of cookies you want, although Nutter Butters are the perfect shape for the turkey bodies. Golden Oreos or regular Oreos would also work.
Another candy: Swap the orange Reese’s Pieces for orange M&Ms or another kind of candy. Swap the white candy melts for white chocolate chips or another color of candy melts. You can use chocolate candy corn candies for the beaks (just the orange part) instead of the orange candies.
Red cookie icing: Use melted red candy wafers or red frosting instead.

Top Tips

Let candy melts cool: It’s important to give the candy melts time to cool a little, otherwise they’ll be too runny.

Quicker setting: Let the cookies set in the refrigerator instead of on the countertop. This can halve the setting time.
