Why You’ll Love It

Easy to make: There’s not much more to do than add the ingredients to your crockpot, stir it, and make clusters. The hardest thing is probably waiting for the candy to set so you can dive in and enjoy!
A tasty treat: Crunchy peanuts, soft marshmallows, sweet vanilla bark, and colorful candies add so much incredible flavor to these Easter treats.
Great for gifting: I like to package some up in cellophane bags and add pastel ribbons. They make charming Easter gifts.

Crockpot Easter Candy Ingredients

A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Peanuts: I used half honey roasted peanuts and half salted roasted peanuts for contrasting flavors.
Vanilla almond bark: The main ingredient in the candy. It melts, combines with the other ingredients and then sets again, to hold the candy clusters together.
Mini marshmallows: To add sweetness and a soft texture to the candies.
Pastel M&Ms: Pastel candies are perfect for the springtime and also Easter.
Bunny sprinkles mix: Pairs perfectly with the theme (I used these!)

Ingredients for a sweet treat are arranged on a table, including white chocolate bars, marshmallows, colorful candies, sprinkles, and two bowls of cereal.

How to Make Crockpot Easter Peanut Clusters

For more detailed instructions with weights and measurements, jump to the printable recipe card.

Melt the almond bark with the nuts: Add the peanuts to your slow cooker and spread them into a single layer, then add broken-up pieces of vanilla almond bark on top. Cover and cook for an hour on low or until the bark has melted.
Add the M&Ms and marshmallows: Let the melted almond bark cool and then mix in the M&Ms and mini marshmallows.
Shape the candy clusters: Use a cookie scoop to make clusters of the mixture and arrange them on wax paper or parchment paper lined baking sheets, topping each one with more M&Ms and sprinkles.
Let them set: Leave the Easter peanut clusters to harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator. (And then hide them away from the kids!)

Substitutions and Variations

Peanuts: You can use a combination of both salted roasted peanuts and honey roasted peanuts or use just one kind or, if preferred, use unsalted nuts instead. Dry roasted peanuts would be good too, or you can use another nut variety like pecans or pistachios.
Almond bark: Use another kind of bark in the recipe, such as cranberry pistachio bark or caramel pretzel apple bark. Alternatively, use the same amount of white candy melts, a white chocolate baking bar, or white chocolate chips.
Mini marshmallows: Feel free to substitute colorful fruit-flavored ones, chopped regular size marshmallows or you can omit them altogether if preferred.
M&Ms: Use a different variety if you don’t like or can’t find the pastel ones.
Bunny sprinkles: Use any kind of sprinkles you like. I chose the bunny ones because they’re a fun topping for an Easter or springtime candy.
Optional add-ins: You can add more ingredients if you like, perhaps semi sweet chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or chopped dried fruits.

Serving Suggestions

For dessert: Serve up your white almond bark clusters after a meal of pizzagaina rustica (Italian Easter pie) or sweet onion honey glazed ham with garlic butter fondant potatoes.
With other sweet treats:
Enjoy these with Easter haystacks and perhaps a coconut cottontail margarita!
As a gift:
Package your slow cooker chocolate candy clusters in cellophane bags and add a pretty ribbon. You could also pop them in cute homemade gift baskets!

How to Store Slow Cooker Easter Candy Clusters

Store: Keep leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Freeze: You can freeze them if you want. They won’t look quite as pretty when thawed and, as they’ll be fine for a month in the fridge, you might as well just make them fresh since they’re a seasonal item anyway.

Top Tips

Make sure they don’t burn: Since all slow cookers heat a little differently, check that your candy isn’t scorching on the bottom as it melts. Keep the heat on low.
Let the chocolate mixture cool: It’s important to allow the melted almond bark mixture to cool down before mixing in the marshmallows and M&Ms, otherwise they will melt and the colors will spread. You can refrigerate the M&M candies while the bark melts, to help it keep its shape.
Perfect storage: Keep the peanut vanilla candy clusters away from light and heat if you’re going to keep them on the counter.

Slow Cooker Candy FAQs

Do I have to use a slow cooker for this recipe?

I used my crockpot because it was just more convenient to dump the ingredients in there and leave it alone for an hour or so. But, if you’re in a rush, you can melt the bark gently in a saucepan on the stove instead, stirring it often and keeping the temperature low.

Would this recipe work for other occasions apart from Easter?

Sure! Just switch out the pastel M&Ms and bunny sprinkles for Valentine’s Day, Christmas or even St Patrick’s Day themed ones.

Ingredients

For Topping:

Instructions

  • Spread the peanuts in one layer in your crockpot.
  • Break up the vanilla almond bark and add it on top.
  • Cover and cook for an hour on low or until melted, then stir to combine.
  • Give it another 15 minutes if the mixture isn’t fully melted and smooth, repeating if needed.
  • Turn the slow cooker off and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, 30 to 45 minutes. If it’s too hot, the M&Ms and marshmallows will melt in, which you don’t want. The mixture should still be melted but almost cool to the touch.
  • Line a pair of baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Gently stir the M&Ms and marshmallows into the melted mixture.
  • Scoop up clusters using a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop and space them out on the lined baking sheet.
  • Top each one with 2 or 3 extra M&M candies and some bunny sprinkles.
  • Let the candies set at room temperature for an hour or in the fridge for half an hour, or until hardened.
