How to Make this DIY Halloween Candy

I meant it when I said this was easy! You don’t even have to weigh or measure anything really. I tend to eyeball it. So the first thing to do is melt the chocolate in a pan. You just want it melted not molten, so keep the heat right down and stir it often.

While it’s melting, spread your add-in candies, pretzels, broken Kit Kats ,cookie crumbles, whatever you are using, over a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. You should use a rimmed cookie sheet so excess melted chocolate doesn’t drip off the sides.

Now pour the melted chocolate all over the mixture, using a spatula to ensure it’s evenly spread. While the bark is still warm and not set yet, you can add more candies, sprinkles or whatever you want to the side that’s facing upwards. Any chocolate left in the pan can be warmed up until it melts and then drizzled over the Halloween white chocolate bark.

Easy Candy Bark Recipe Variations

You can change this up as much as you like. You don’t even have to use white chocolate. Dark chocolate or semisweet chocolate would work instead. Alternatively you could melt two kinds of chocolate in separate pans and pour them both over the candies. That way you add another flavour as well as more colour.

I like to use chocolate M&Ms since they’re smaller. The peanut ones are also good but they always seem to be different sizes. Skittles would work too if you don’t mind the chewiness.

Why is It Called Bark Anyway?

Peppermint bark is one of the most popular kinds of bark. It is made by pouring melted chocolate over crushed hard mints. After it sets and is broken up, the uneven, pitted surface looks like tree bark. Bark dates back to the 1960s in Florida, or at least that’s the earliest record of this sweet treat.
