Since summer is finally making an appearance, it’s the best time to make blueberry lemonade popsicles. All you need for this blueberry popsicle recipe is five ingredients and this refreshing summer treat really is easy to make. This citrus and blueberry flavored popsicle is just what you need if you are looking for a blueberry popsicle without yogurt.
Easy to make and incredibly refreshing, these gorgeous blueberry lemon popsicles are simply perfect for those hot summer days.
Also try frozen mint juleps or strawberry lemonade vodka shots. And sweet tea raspberry popsicles are really delicious.
You will need fresh blueberries for this citrus and blueberry flavored popsicle. Orange and lemon juice go into the mixture along with fresh mint and white sugar. This is a recipe for blueberry popsicles without yogurt. It’s true Greek yogurt does feature in some popsicle recipes but if you don’t want a creamy type of popsicle, you don’t need it.
To make these blueberry lemonade popsicles, just add all the ingredients to a blender and mix. Save a few of the fresh blueberries because you can add some whole ones to the popsicles. This adds a contrasting texture. You can blend them all if you prefer, but I like to leave a few whole for this reason.
Tips for a Perfect Citrus and Blueberry Flavoured Popsicle
This blueberry popsicle recipe is so simple to make. You really don’t need any tips for making this refreshing summer treat. But it’s still worth knowing a few handy hints to ensure they’re perfect.
Because this citrus and blueberry flavoured popsicle keeps so well, you can make a batch to last you all summer. How many can you make at once? Well, that only depends on the size of your freezer and how many popsicle moulds you have!
You get 6 blueberry lemonade popsicles from this recipe but it’s super easy to double or triple. They will keep in the freezer for months. Anytime you want a refreshing summer treat, just grab one!
You can make these blueberry popsicles without yogurt as sweet or as tart as you want. Blueberries are naturally part sweet and part tart, while lemon juice is tart. I quite enjoy the sweet and tart combo, but you can increase the sugar if you prefer a sweeter result.
A last tip for this blueberry popsicle recipe is to ensure they freeze for at least 6 hours (overnight is perfect!) If you don’t give them enough freezing time they won’t come out of the popsicle moulds cleanly. So give your blueberry lemon popsicles sufficient freezing time!
Blueberry Popsicle Recipe Variations
If you want to make these with raspberry or strawberry, instead of blueberry lemonade popsicles, that works too. You could use mixed berries or else pick your favourite. I can’t think of one berry that would not work here.
You can replace the white sugar with artificial sweetener if you wish. Anything from monk fruit to a stevia-based sweetener will work. Bear in mind some sweeteners have a 1:1 ration with sugar (such as monk fruit) while others are many times sweeter so you might need to adjust the quantities you use.
Subbing lime for the lemon is another idea or you could add some minced fresh ginger to the mixture. If you’re doing that just add a tiny bit. A little ginger in these blueberry popsicles without yogurt goes a long way!
Swap some of the orange juice for champagne to make an extra-special refreshing summer treat. Not too much though, else they won’t set properly. The same applies to other liquors such as gin or vodka. Remember: add too much and the popsicles won’t freeze! Oh and if you are adding alcohol to some, ensure they aren’t the ones the kids will eat.
Dairy Free Popsicles
Although this isn’t a creamy recipe, you might like to add some dairy (or dairy alternative). Some popsicles are dairy-based of course while others aren’t.
As it stands, this citrus and blueberry flavoured popsicle isn’t made with dairy or alternatives. If you want to add some though, Greek yogurt, blueberry or lemon flavoured yogurt or even a splash of cream would work. Just switch some of the citrus juices for dairy and mix well.
Something else you could try is dipping the blueberry lemonade popsicles into melted white chocolate for an extra feature! This is just an idea but I bet the white chocolate would contrast well with the tart fruity popsicles! If you’re something of a chocoholic, you might like to experiment a little.

So if a citrus and blueberry flavoured popsicle sounds like your idea of the perfect summer treat, you’d be correct! The tart flavour is reminiscent of iced lemonade. And that’s of course a summer favourite as well. The fact these are frozen means they are super-refreshing and perfect for even the hottest summer day.
